Introduction to the "Golden Triangle": The Golden Triangle is located more than 40 kilometers north of Chiang Rai. In the center SopRuak stands a golden triangle archway made of marble, 4 meters high, with inscriptions in both Thai and English. The words "Welcome to the Golden Triangle" were displayed, and many tourists took pictures here to commemorate the event. The House of Opium is located in the center of SopRuak. The museum displays the history of the Golden Triangle and related information on poppy cultivation. There are many small shops selling tourist souvenirs on both sides of the street. The Opium Exhibition Hall is located 1 km northwest of Sola City. This brightly lit demonstration hall tells the history and production of opium, as well as the debilitating consequences of the drug.
