Introduction to Saint Mel City: Saint Mel City (Holy MEL city) is a very solid castle built with stone from the late 14th to the 15th century. Originally the place where the Bishop of Lausanne was located, it is now the seat of the Vaud cantonal government. Behind the city there is a statue of Darville who died in the Vaud War of Independence. Tourists are not allowed to visit.
