Introduction to the Malachite Hall: The magnificent Malachite Hall was the reception hall for Empress Alexander, the wife of Nicholas I. As the name suggests, many bottles, candlesticks, etc. made of green malachite are displayed here. Even the pillars in the room are carved from malachite. Before the October Revolution, the Provisional Government used this place as its office.
