Arrive at the scenic spot at 7 a.m. and start riding a camel up Mingsha Mountain to watch the sunrise on the sand mountain. The camel captain is long and winding, as if you are in an ancient caravan outside the Great Wall.
After more than half an hour of long camel jolts, we finally climbed up a 300-meter-high sand mountain, playing with the tired and panting camels while waiting for the sunrise.
But God was not kind to us. It was a cloudy day and there was no sunrise over the sand mountains to watch. I could only sit helplessly on the yellow sand at the top of the mountain, looking at the endless sand dunes in the distance one after another, and thinking about the mystery in my ears. Xuanzang prayed for the Buddha's blessing in the desert, and he deeply felt how firm the faith in Xuanzang's heart was. It was difficult to walk in the desert. After playing in the sand for a while, we continued on the camel ride to Crescent Moon Spring.
Crescent Moon Spring is nearly 100 meters long from north to south and about 25 meters wide from east to west. The spring is deep in the east and shallow in the west, with a deepest point of about 5 meters. It is curved like a crescent moon, hence its name. It is known as the "No. 1 Spring in the Desert" and has been in existence since the Han Dynasty. It is one of the "Eight Sights of Dunhuang".
Legend has it that when Tang Sanzang went to the West to obtain scriptures, he passed through Dunhuang. Because it was an endless desert with no water or food, the white dragon horse was already dead (the local White Horse Pagoda is the place where the white dragon horse is buried). Tang Monk trudged hard and was about to collapse in the end. At this time, Guanshiyin Bodhisattva was watching. In order to wish him success, he dropped a drop of golden water from the purple gold bottle, and instantly a clear spring like a crescent appeared in the vast desert, and there was also a kind of "Seven Star Grass" in the spring. , can cure all diseases, and later the spring was named "Crescent Moon Spring". So Tang Monk was rescued and continued to move towards the west. Crescent Moon Spring has survived until today.
Tickets for Mingsha Mountain Crescent Spring can be entered for free within three days after your face is collected at the exit. If you are more interested in the desert, it is still a relatively easy place to visit~
