2021 Travel Notes Series: Chifeng and Bashang

Most of my impressions of the Mongolian prairie are of Hulunbuir and Horqin. The former is very popular, and the latter is famous thanks to Empress Dowager Xiaozhuang. There are also Wuergai and Bashang. Among them, Bashang is the location of the Mulan Paddock where the emperors of the Qing Dynasty hunted. It spans Chifeng in Inner Mongolia, Chengde and Zhangjiakou in Hebei.

In September 2021, in view of the recurrence of the epidemic, we gave up the Inner Mongolia Ring Road and switched to Bashang with a shorter route and shorter time.

After leaving Aranya, we headed to Chifeng, met with our friends, and started our trip to Bashang Grassland.

Chifeng – an underestimated tourism resource

There are so many places to play in Chifeng.

There are various scenic routes including hot springs, deserts, grasslands, birch forests, and lakes, all within a 4-hour driving distance. Chifeng’s tourism resources surprised the family.

Merrill Valley
Exquisite and elegant small grassland

Merrill Valley is famous for its ski resort, which is one of the venues for the 2021 Winter Olympics. We went there just for the grassland and forest.

Meilin Valley belongs to Chifeng Harqin Banner. The meadow is a few kilometers away from the resort. Navigate to "Little Meilin Village". Before entering the village, you will see a large lawn in the canyon. Walking in, you can take a hiking loop.

With the woods as the background, Merrill Lynch Valley is more photogenic than just plain grassland. We went early, as the leaves were just beginning to turn yellow in mid-September, and it would probably look better if it were later. Compared with the endless expanse of Ulan Butong, Meilin Valley is more exquisite and beautiful.

After seeing various self-driving experts recommending wild luxury camping on Xiaohongshu, we also made a little fuss, bringing outdoor tables, chairs, picnic mats, coffee and sandwiches, and we were full of joy to have an outdoor lunch in Merrill Valley. once. The natural atmosphere here ignited the fire of freedom in the hearts of the puppies. The poop shoveling team had no choice but to eat all the food and quickly get excited with the mythical beasts. So, the dreamed-up photo shoot ended with half an hour of work and five minutes of pretentiousness.

Herdsmen from the village would come to graze their cattle on the meadow. As soon as we sat down to prepare our picnic, a herd of horses came and rushed towards us. Fortunately, the horses and sheep here are very docile and will not attack people or puppies. It feels like being in a Disney fairy tale.

Briddon Desert
Pet-friendly desert with no admission fee

Because Tengger’s trip was canceled, I looked for the desert in Chifeng as a substitute. There is a Yulongsha Lake in Chifeng. My friends have consulted with dog friends and they all said that pets can be brought here. I don’t know if it’s due to the epidemic. When we called for consultation, we were told that pets were not allowed to enter. Fearing the most entanglement, an alternative plan was put on the agenda, which is located in the Bridun Desert next to the Yulongsha Lake Scenic Area.

Buridun Desert is located in Buridun Gacha, Chaogewendusumu, Wengniute Banner. Navigate to "Bridun Tourism Cooperative"

The biggest difference between general scenic spots and non-scenic spots is the cleanliness. But there are few tourists in Bourgetown, so it is still very clean. There are many games, including sandboarding, camel riding, desert surfing, archery, etc. What our group cares most about is letting the dogs out. Letting the dogs out is free, but you need to go deeper into the desert to have more fun. So, we took part in an in-depth desert cross-country tour. The three packages were 400, 600 and 800 per trip. At the beginning, everyone thought it was a rip-off. The price was enough to charter a car out of town for a day. Since I came here, I chose the 600 package.

The one that took us was a 6-cylinder small Cherokee with a manual gearbox. As soon as we got in the car, the driver stepped on the accelerator. He was either looking at the sky or the ground. The whole journey went up and down the sand dunes at 90 degrees, or at a 45-degree incline along the sand wall. Walk. . . For nearly 10 minutes, the whole car was silent. With this driving skill, only 600? 1,200 is not an exaggeration!

Looking back on this trip north, I actually had the most fun in the desert. The mythical beasts, especially Fatty, love digging in the sand. When they come to the endless desert, they are like a mouse falling into a rice vat. I thought the desert would be hot, but Chaiwawa ran for most of the day without feeling tired, and even the most homely Lu Lu went crazy. Compared to the prairie, the biggest advantage here is that I don’t have to worry about snakes. . .

Before there were no sacred beasts,

The joy of traveling is seeing the scenery;

After raising a mythical beast,

The greatest joy of traveling is

See the bright smiles of the dogs.

hot line
Knocked over color palette

There are three Internet celebrity self-driving routes in Inner Mongolia: Miao'a line, Re'a line and Dada line. Except for Miao'a line, the rest are all within the territory of Keshiketeng Banner in Chifeng. I also walked this time with the Four King Kongs. Scenic highway. These lines are all provincial roads connecting local small towns. The Rea line runs from Rehuitang Town to the Ashatu Stone Forest.

Select "Hot Water Pond" in the navigation and go through "Huangganliang National Forest Park" to "Ashatu Stone Forest". Baidu Amap will show the correct route.

After the basic interview in Chifeng City, we stayed in Rehuitang Town. This town is not big, but it is surprisingly clean and compact, with a bit of a European town look. We even met several groups of dog friends at the hotel where we stayed, sharing route information on where to eat, drink, and have fun.

There is a market in the town in the morning, so I took the four little ones to go shopping before setting off. The old lady was very surprised, why were four little foxes here?

There are self-driving tourists all the way along the Rea Line, as well as various viewing platforms, so it is almost impossible to get lost. The signal along the road is very poor, China Telecom and China Unicom have no signal, and China Mobile is struggling. You need to download the offline map in advance, and the same situation will apply to Ulan Butong later.

Unexpectedly, the weather in the grassland is the same as that in the mountains. It changes at any time. When we set out that day, it had just rained, and the scenery under the cloudy sky was a bit disappointing. Unexpectedly, halfway through, Uncle Sun came out to work.

When I went there in mid-September, the golden yellow color was already online. Although it was not the best color, it couldn't resist the good weather, with blue sky and white clouds, and it was already very beautiful. In fact, the Rea Line is more beautiful than the Dada Line. In addition to the grassland, there are forests and birch trees, which are more visible. Huanggangliang is the most beautiful part of the entire route.

Many grasslands on the Rea Line are not fenced, so you can let your dog out as soon as the car stops.

We didn’t go to Ashatu because pets are not allowed in the scenic area. When approaching Ashatu, pay attention to the road sign on your left that says Dada Line. Turn down and start entering another scenic route.

Dalinore Lake
The Pearl of Dada Online

Compared with the Rea Line, the Dada Line is less attractive to puppies because almost all the grasslands along the route are fenced for herding, with continuous fences and no place for puppies to run. But the scenery of the Gongger Grassland we walked along was really vast, with not many mountains, and it was endless as far as the eye could see. Although it is different from Hulunbuir, it is enough to satisfy us from the south.

Next to an artificial scenic spot, I found an open grassland and relaxed. Fortunately, I had a lot of fun all the way from Rea Line in the morning, and I was already exhausted by this point. I was satisfied with just a few runs.

Although the Dada line is relatively dull, the end point here, Dalinol Lake, is a surprising destination for us. The road signs along the way basically call it Dali Lake, which is the same lake. Dali Lake is the terminal station of the Dada Line. Passing through Baiyin Aobao, most people stop in the Nan'an District. Most of the hotels and inns are concentrated in this area.

You can go to Mantuo Mountain and Bihai Silver Beach on the south coast, but in the end we didn't go there. Instead, we went to a lakeside ranch that cost 50 yuan per car. Entering the lake from the scenic area gate costs 120 per person.

The herdsman who took us in

Before entering the Bihaiyintan Scenic Area, there will be a road blocker. They are local herdsmen and ask you to enter the lake from home. The fee ranges from 30 to 50.

The biggest reason why we went with him was that his family owned a ranch and allowed us to roam around the ranch as we pleased for the past two days. To get from the ranch to the lake, you have to walk through various mud swamps. In the end, my companions went to the lake alone to enjoy the scenery, while I chose to accompany the mythical beasts to have fun on the sandy grass of the pasture.

Originally, I had no expectations for Dali Lake. The road condition for about 20 kilometers from the Dada line to the lake was in poor condition, and it was even more deserted when we arrived at the south bank. People who prefer western plateau lakes had no idea about Dali Lake. As everyone knows, not only did we watch an unexpectedly beautiful sunset, the Dali Lake in front of us actually had a quiet beauty amidst the bleak cold wind. The lake is gray-blue, which is different from the sapphire blue and gem-like emerald green of plateau lakes. This gray tone is more unique.

Bashang – Let’s see the grassland with you

The epidemic situation in the north was recurring and the front line should not be too long, so the route was diverted from Hulunbuir to Damshang. If you don’t go there, you won’t know. It turns out that the irresponsible and catchy “Bashang Grassland” is not small at all. "Bashang" mainly includes Wulabutong, Weichang Bashang (Mulan Weichang), Fengning Bashang, Zhangbei Bashang and Guyuan Bashang areas, spanning the two provinces of Hebei and Inner Mongolia. This time, after several adjustments, we finally chose the itinerary of Ulan Butong, Weichang and Fengning, a total of 4 days and 3 nights.

On Bashang in September, everyone comes from afar for the golden fertile fields. Our group is quite special. In addition to admiring the autumn colors of the grassland, we also hope to see the passionate scene of "four firewood galloping". For this reason, we found that many of the general Bashang route guides are not necessarily suitable for bringing the four treasures.

Compared with the pure nature of Rea Line and Dada Line, both Ulanbutong and Weichang are mostly scenic spots. Naturally, many tourism and entertainment projects have been added, and tourists are relatively concentrated, so they cannot be as popular as we think. Let the dog go wherever you want.

This is the same as flower viewing on the plateau. On the plateau, the altitude determines the order of flowering. Here, the latitude determines the order of color changes: Ulan Butong > Paddock > Fengning.

Ulanbutong
The protagonist of Bashang Grassland

There is a film and television base in Ulan Butong. In front of the plank road going up the mountain, there is a row of stones on which are engraved some familiar film and television titles: Princess Princess, Kangxi Dynasty, Emperor Wu of Han Dynasty, Legend of the Condor Heroes, Romance of the Three Kingdoms, Mo Gong, Mi Yue Zhuan, Ruyi Zhuan, etc. As you can imagine, the grassland landscape here can be regarded as the star of the dam.

Weather factors account for 80% of the beauty and ugliness of grasslands. The grassland under the sun and the weeds under the cloudy sky are two completely different worlds. The most regrettable thing is that the day we visited Ulan Butong happened to be cloudy. The scenery was average, but there were many places to let dogs go.

Ulan Butong Scenic Area Fees

Entering Ulanbutong from the direction of Chifeng, you will first arrive at the North Station of the scenic spot.

Transit vehicles have 25 minutes to leave the scenic spot. They pay a deposit (120/person) at the station and get a note. They can get the deposit back with the note at the exit. Otherwise, you can purchase tickets directly (120/person), which are valid for 3 days and need to be carried with you. In addition to the North and South Stations, there are ticket checkpoints at many other locations, such as Toad Dam, Princess Lake, and the photography base.

The management of the South Railway Station is extremely chaotic. It happens to be the Mid-Autumn Festival, and there are many people from Hebei Province in the capital. One road is blocked into four lanes, and there are people going backwards and people fighting. It is an eye-opener! Tickets are not sold at the ticket window, so tourists can scan the QR code to buy tickets themselves. The itinerary code + health code are not enough, and you have to scan the code to register your health. The interface is not very friendly, and older tourists look confused. If you plan to go during holidays or peak seasons, you must bring patience and EQ.

Ulanbutong Scenic Area is large and has scattered scenic spots, such as Jiangjun Paozi, Wucai Mountain, Princess Lake, Toad Dam, Panlong Canyon, Mushroom Paozi, Film and Television Base, Luanhe Source, Hongshan Racecourse, Beigou, etc. You must play carefully and must More than two days. Due to subjective and objective factors, we selectively played for one and a half days.

First of all, considering the factors of the car, the roads in some scenic spots are still wild roads. When encountering wetlands or pits, it is easy for the car to get stuck and scratch the chassis. Therefore, there will be many cross-country projects available locally. Racecourses and the like, where bringing dogs are potentially risky, are not considered. After considering the rationality of the route, I finally chose:

1. Toad Dam

Toad Dam is actually outside the Ulan Butong Scenic Area, and you need to purchase additional tickets for 30 yuan/person.

There is a photography base and a well-renovated tourist boardwalk in Toad Dam. Tourists are relatively concentrated, and the puppies cannot play freely. If you don’t take pictures of the scenery for the sake of watching the sunset, like us, it doesn’t make much sense.

In fact, among the scenic spots in Toad Dam, you can find some wild lawns to hang out.

When we went, it was almost sunset, and the ticket inspectors and shuttle buses in Baihualin were off work. It is recommended to visit the birch forest in the afternoon (you have to take a shuttle bus from the ticket gate for about 5 or 6 kilometers), and wait until almost sunset before going to the photography base. Near the windmill in the birch forest, there is a large grassy area where you can take a walk with your dog.

Huamugou, which is next to Toad Dam, can be arranged to visit in the morning and then enter Toad Dam in the afternoon.

2. Princess Lake

Princess Lake is part of the Ulan Butong Scenic Area and does not require additional tickets. I read a lot of guides online and got mixed reviews.

The hills and grasslands on Bashang are beautiful, but it is difficult to take pictures of puppies because the proportions are out of balance. Princess Lake is a small scene. The lake is not big. When the weather is good, the yellow leaves, green grass and blue lake surface are very suitable for taking portraits of puppies. The scenic spot itself is not big, and half an hour is enough for a walk around.

After routine operation, the puppies instantly became the biggest highlight of the scenic spot, and friends all forgot the original intention of coming here to travel.

//

On the other hand, there are many nameless meadows along the Princess Lake. We played all the way, and the mythical beasts had a great time. However, here we encountered several dry snakes. Generally, dry snakes are poisonous, and the grass in Ulan Butong is high and the visibility is not good, so you need to be extra careful.

3. Film and television base

The film and television base is on the way back from Princess Lake to the core scenic spot of Ulanbutong, and is in line with Wucai Mountain.

A wooden plank road leads up to a small hill. On the top of the mountain, you can see the "Royal Hunting Garden" where Huang Ama hunts. Toad Dam is suitable for watching sunset, and here is suitable for watching sunrise. If you don’t watch the sunrise and just climb the mountain (about 5 kilometers straight back and forth), you will be disappointed after reaching the top and the scenery is average. In order to save effort, we gave up walking on the plank road and climbed the mountain directly from the wild road. The puppies were very interested, but the poor man accidentally dropped the PTZ camera on the way up the mountain.

4. Colorful Mountain

The colorful mountains are unexpectedly beautiful.

Although it was cloudy, the landforms along the way were well-proportioned. On days with rich autumn colors, the vegetation on the mountains was like a palette. Walking from the parking lot to the foot of the mountain, the terrain is wide and there will be no bottlenecks even if there are many tourists. We also met Akita, Labrador and other big babies here. In addition to the local herdsmen grazing their animals, the scavengers obviously also planned to let their dogs loose at the foot of the mountain.

saihanba
Bashang grassland in Hebei

Unlike Ulan Butong, Saihanba does not have tickets, and individual attractions charge fees. Starting from the capital, from Fengning to Saihanba, there is a scenic route called "National Scenic Avenue No. 1". There are multiple forest fire prevention checkpoints on the road. Vehicles entering and exiting need to scan codes to record, so it is the most likely to be jammed during festivals. a section of the road.

During this trip, we made an unwise decision to stay at Yudaokou in Saihanba, and then visit Ulan Butong and Saihanba. Judging from the map, the distance is not particularly far, and the average driving time is about 30 to 45 minutes. The actual operation is that you will encounter various checkpoints such as fire inspections and ticket inspections along the way. In the end, the time spent on the road will be much longer than what is shown on the GPS. If it is a holiday, there may be traffic jams. Therefore, it is best to stay wherever you go.

The scenic spots in Saihanba Scenic Area are not as open as those in Ulanbutong, and the autumn colors come later than in Ulanbutong. Although there are many scenic spots, such as European style, Qixing Lake, Sun Lake, Moon Lake, Turtle Mountain, Taoshan Lake, Training Platform, etc., after visiting Ulan Butong, many of the repetitive scenery here are slightly overshadowed.

In the end, we chose the small and exquisite Qixing Lake, which is closest to the B&B, and the furthest scenic spot from Saihanba, Hongsongwa National Nature Reserve located at the northeastern end of Weichang County.

1. Qixing Lake

In Bashang, almost all scenic spots are pet-friendly, including Qixing Lake.

Qixing Lake is a wetland composed of seven natural lakes of varying sizes. The scenic area is not large, and there are artificially repaired plank roads in the park, which makes visiting the wetland cleaner and more convenient.

When the sun sets, a pool of clear water reflects the golden color of the meadow trees, which is beautiful and peaceful.

The dog walking activity at Qixing Lake in the evening was unexpectedly comfortable. In fact, sometimes proper artificial protection can achieve a perfect balance between humans and nature.

2. Hongsongwa National Nature Reserve

Starting from our B&B in Yudaokou, we drove for about an hour to Hongsongwa. The road conditions along the road are good 95% of the time. The rest are dirt roads or roads with many potholes, so you need to drive carefully and slowly.

Navigate to "Hongsongwa National Nature Reserve" and buy tickets at the archway for 25 yuan/person. Drive along the navigation road, and when you see the windmill, you can choose your favorite place to stop and play.

//

Compared with the wilderness in Ulan Butong, this alpine meadow has a higher sense of security. In one day in Ulan Bu, I encountered three snakes. The height of the grass is easy to overlook, so if you are traveling with a dog, you need to pay attention to your steps. The grass in the red pine swamp is not high, the view is good, and it is more secure to play.

There are almost no tourists in Hongsongwa. There are continuous sub-alpine meadows, small groups of cattle and sheep, and a vast and clear field of vision. Finally, I can let the four little ones go with peace of mind. Hongsongwa can be regarded as the grassland where the puppies had the most fun during this trip to the dam.

Fengning Bashang
The first grassland in northern Beijing

Before leaving Bashang, we specially arranged to stay in Fengning for one night. In order to experience the famous Xiongkulu Tent Hotel, we stopped by Qiansongba.

Along the highway to Datan Town, the scenery we saw along the way was lush and green. When Ulanbutong and Saihanba have entered autumn, the summer here is still lingering. The location of Xiongkuru is on a grassland in the valley. If the weather is good, you can visit the hotel area and have a good experience of the Bashang grassland. Unfortunately, it rained heavily all night on the day of arrival, and it didn't stop until we left the next day.

Xiongkuru, which is only open for a few months a year, is OK in terms of hardware support. There are electric blankets, water heaters, and hot showers. However, on a rainy day in late September (heavy rain) and the double attack of cooling, the temperature in the tent was so cold that I woke up and finally had to wear fleece to fall asleep.

Camp at night >>

It was said that we could drive the car next to the tent, and we drove directly to the tent. But in fact, when checking in at the front desk, they said we had to park in the parking lot and then take the hotel car to the room.

The food in the restaurant is quite delicious. My brother and uncles asked us to bring our four treasures to eat together because they were afraid that we would be cold outside, so we manually liked it 10,000+ times. This trip to the north really moved us. Before we came here, we heard about the strict dog bans in the north. It turned out that the people in the north are more affectionate and doting than many places in the south! Be sure to come back with your four treasures!

Because I have just visited Ulan Butong and Saihanba, the attraction here has naturally decreased a lot. ‼ ️‼ ️Weather is very important. If you want to go here, be sure to come when the weather is sunny. Not only the scenery is much better, but also the range of activities is much richer! ‼ ️‼ ️The roads in the hotel are all original dirt roads, which are especially muddy after rain. The puppies basically live in two places, from the tent to the restaurant and back to the tent. The tent excludes bathrooms and balconies, and the activity space does not exceed 25 square meters at most. It would be a bit depressing and helpless to stay there for a whole day.

The front desk and restaurant service are very good, but the hygiene here is a bit sloppy. There are a lot of long hair from the previous tenant in the shower room and sewer as a souvenir for me.

Simply put, Fengning is more suitable for people who can’t go north and can only take a short trip to Beijing, but also want to get close to nature and let their dogs enjoy the grassland. Due to the weather, we finally gave up on Qiansongba and went straight to Beijing.

Knock on the blackboard, remember to come on a sunny day, otherwise it won’t be fun to come.

Finally, the food and accommodation along the way

Along Chifeng and Bashang, the accommodation conditions for pets can only be considered average compared to today's standards in China, but the pet-friendly situation is much better than expected.

Chifeng urban area

In order to have a face-to-face interview and do nucleic acid testing, we specially went to Chifeng City this time. This is the most difficult part of the entire trip to find accommodation. There were not many hotels to choose from, so I finally chose to stay at the chain "Thanks Inn" near the Building Materials City.

Thank Inn Chain Hotel Chifeng

This is not the first time we have stayed at Thank Inn Chain Hotel, we also stayed at this brand in Zuogong, Tibet.

Although the room is small but well-equipped, the hygiene is also very good.

The lobby manager told us that the brand is undergoing rectification and upgrading, so many of its hotels are being renovated, so the hardware conditions are guaranteed. In fact, we found that most of the ThankYou we contacted will relax their reception even if they are marked on some platforms as not allowing pets, as long as they call in person for consultation.

It was not easy to meet gay friends. In the end, the gay friends found a familiar barbecue restaurant to meet. It is said that it is difficult to find places in the city that allow pets to dine with them. The main reason is that there are regulations that fear complaints and will face punishment if found. Before leaving Chifeng City the next day, in order to avoid trouble, we ordered takeout and ate at the hotel.

Wengniute Banner

About an hour's drive away from the urban area of Chifeng, it is the location of Wengniute Banner, Yulongsha Lake and Bridun Desert. There are more accommodation options in Wengte Niuqi than in the city. We chose to stay at the Quanning Hotel near Quaning Square in Wudan Town.

We were impressed by this hotel for three reasons:

01

Very cost-effective

Unexpectedly, in such a small town, the interior decoration of the hotel is unexpectedly modern and of very good quality, exceeding expectations. The price is less than 300, and pets can also be brought in. The executive suite was very comfortable and the cleaning was in place. It was the most comfortable night's stay in Bashang, Inner Mongolia!

02
No pets allowed but pets allowed?

Quanning Hotel is not prominent on Ctrip, but it is actually a big hotel in the town.

At the hotel door, there was a sign saying "No pets allowed". When I saw it, I felt that something was wrong. When booking, I repeatedly confirmed with the hotel that I would bring 4 pieces of firewood, and the other party clearly stated that dogs are allowed. Unexpectedly, on the day of check-in, an organization held a banquet reception at the hotel, so we were blocked by security guards who said pets were not allowed inside. When they arrived, they let the puppies wait outside the hotel while the humans went to the lobby to negotiate and check in.

Sure enough, I was told that if I wanted to bring my pet in, I could only check in after 9 o'clock and after the banquet. The manager's attitude was friendly and we had to understand each other when we went out to play, so we had no choice but to wait outside the door. At this time, we met a couple who were also staying at the hotel with two small dogs. They told us that we could enter as long as we held the dogs in our hands. When transporting the puppy into the hotel in a low-key manner, I met the "leading guests" who had come down from the banquet. The guests not only watched Si Xiaochai, but also helped the puppy press the elevator...

Overall, the hotel experience was very good. The guests and service staff I encountered in the hotel were actually very friendly to puppies. It's just that the check-in process and rules are a bit repetitive, which makes people feel very uneasy.

03
Delicious hotpot mutton near the square

When we arrived at Wengniute Banner, it was lunch time, so we decided to find a place to eat first. This was the first night after we left Qinhuangdao and entered Inner Mongolia. Eating mutton became a matter of course. After making a lot of phone calls, we found a copper pot shabu-shabu restaurant that allowed us to bring our puppies to dine with us.

As Chifeng City learned later, the store clerk was full of curiosity and kindness towards the puppy, but was also afraid of attracting complaints from other customers. So, we started sneaking into the store again and feasted in the reserved box.

Rea Line and Dada Line

Those who take the Re'a route generally choose to live in Rehuitang Town or Jingpeng Town, a larger nearby county town. Hotwater Town is small and clean. It is the starting point of the Rea Line and has many accommodation options. We were lucky enough to find the pet-friendly Rewater Green Hotel to stay.

On the day of check-in, we met a young lady from Qingdao and her good son Mark, and exchanged valuable route information with each other.

The hotel's VIP floor only costs 200 yuan/night. Not only pets can be brought, but humans can also take a bath in the hot springs.

Leaving Rehuitang Town, we traveled along the Rea Line and Dada Line. Finally, we ended up on the south bank of Dalinuoer Lake, a small village where most tourists settled.

South Bank of Dali Lake
The accommodation we stayed at was called Grand Hyatt Hotel . The first floor was for dining and the second floor was for rooms. On the same day I checked in, I also met a small black chamois. We found that the occupancy rate of small hotels in the town is not high in the off-season. Many of them allow pets, and it is much cheaper to buy a room on site than to book online.

Bashang

This time the puppies were on the dam and played in three places: Ulanbutong, Saihanba and Fengning. The main purpose of going to Fengning is to experience the famous tent hotel Xiongkulu, so the accommodation choice is clear. In Ulanbutong and Saihanba, there are accommodation options for walking and playing, or you can fix the accommodation and then travel by car. Since the beasts had a lot of luggage, they finally chose a fixed accommodation option, and they chose a boutique B&B in Yudaokou: Weichang Yanju Yuanshang Resort Hotel

There are not many hotels in Ulan Butong that allow pets. After choosing one, I occasionally saw Yanju. What is particularly eye-catching about Yanju is its design style, which is comparable to that of a B&B in a free shipping area. In fact, the design of Yanju is really great. There is no restricted area for puppies here. They can also dine together in the restaurant and feel like home. The only drawback is that the maintenance is a bit unsatisfactory, resulting in many negative reviews online.

During the three days we stayed at Yanju, there were no other guests except our group. There is only one front desk guy and one chef guy in the entire B&B, who provide all services and are always available to respond to requests. The guy at the front desk gave us a set of sheets for the puppies, but we brought our own sheets and didn't use them.

The cooking skills of the chef surprised us. It is definitely the highest level of northern cuisine we have ever tasted in recent years, including hot and sour soup, grilled lamb chops, mutton in sour soup, pot-roasted pork, fried fresh milk... Chatting with the chef, we found out that he is from Shenyang Learn cooking, be able to cook traditional Northeastern dishes, and even know how to make "snow-clothed bean paste"!

The chef is a treasure trove. He is good at cooking and can do all kinds of maintenance work. He also fixes sewer problems. He also helps us look after our car if we have minor problems. He is the last one to leave at night and the first one to get up in the morning to make breakfast for us. ! The whole stay experience was perfect because of him.

The hardware and services are up to standard, but the maintenance and cleaning are not up to par, which is a pity. The designer took every detail into consideration, but when we moved in, the damage was no less than 30%. The small garden in the atrium used to be a bit delicate, but now it is overgrown with weeds.

When I entered the room, there were insect corpses all over the floor. They had not been cleaned carefully, and there were spider webs in some small places. When I walked in, I asked the guy to clean it up in one breath. After cleaning up, it was still very comfortable. There were a lot of stains on the carpet. We changed to a room with wooden floors and it felt much better. B&Bs can consider removing carpets, which will make maintenance easier and more hygienic and clean. The supplies provided are all clean, but due to the recent epidemic, the cleaning ladies do not come every day, and the rooms are cleaned only when someone comes. On the day we arrived, except for the 3 rooms we stayed in, almost all other rooms were in a state of being cleaned.

Let us contract for three days of evacuation

If you are concerned about the above issues, you may have to choose another company. However, after looking at the hotels in Ulan Butong, we still prefer the design, food and pet freedom of Yanju.

Fengning's Good Morning Xiongkulu is indeed a good choice to get in touch with the grassland near Beijing. It is recommended to choose to go in the summer when the weather is warm and the grassland is fertile to better experience the natural beauty of the tent hotel.

When we left Fengning for Beijing Qingdao and embarked on the way home, the Qingdao girl and her Mark who met by chance in the hot water pool were in Hulunbuir, embracing the grassland and the blue sky.

Looking forward to the next trip north and the next trip to the grassland.
