North Sea

Cross the sea from Weizhou Island and observe the urban life in the southern seaport city of Beihai. Beihai has an old street with a history of hundreds of years. There is a Qiaogang style village where I settled after returning to my motherland from Vietnam. There are also sculptures in the city's central square, and seafood can be seen everywhere in the streets and alleys. The most special thing is that there is a massage bed on the street

After the sea ban, all the ships were parked in the port. This was the first time I saw so many fishing boats. During the fishing moratorium, fishing boats are not allowed to go out to sea to fish. Fishing boats fill the shelters, and fishermen begin to live a life on the water. Beihai Old Street is a street with a history of more than 100 years. It was first built in 1883. More than 1,400 meters along the street are all arcade-style buildings that combine Chinese and Western styles. Most of the buildings are two to three stories, with bougainvillea climbing all over the outer walls. The arcade part is both an extension of the road to both sides and an extension of the pavement to the outside. People walk under the arcade, which can protect them from wind and rain as well as the scorching sun. The square pillars of the arcade are thick and thick, and there is also an old church. There are many shops in the old street and there are many local residents. Even if it rains on weekends, it can't stop the enthusiasm of the old and young to play cards and have fun under the arcade. Everyday old streets show strong vitality. Today is Sunday, and the Beihai Christian Chapel is packed with people. There are two sessions in Mandarin and Cantonese, and a simultaneous video live broadcast is set up outside the chapel.

There are two kinds of delicacies in Beihai that you should remember.

  • The sugar-pickled coconut meat slices at Qiaogang Food Street are made by shaving the coconut meat into thin slices, air-drying and dehydrating it, then marinating it in a sugar jar, and then air-drying it again. The white sugar frosting covers the coconut meat thin slices, similar to the winter melon candy we used to eat when we were children.
  • There is an inconspicuous street on the Beihai Sea with a tacky name: Cape Street. I remember this street because there are several seafood noodle shops on the street, and their business is very good. I particularly like one of them. The seafood is paired with duck offal, and then eaten with a plate of seafood sauce. The salty-style seafood sauce, coupled with the crisp texture of seafood and duck offal, makes Beihai's seafood noodles unique among the many varieties of noodles in Guangxi. , it probably depends on the collision of several umami flavors.

Nanning

If you dare to eat, come quickly. From Beihai to Nanning, the food street on Zhongshan Road in Nanning City is just starting to get busy. Nanning, the capital of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, has spacious and clean roads. The pedestrian trail on the main road is like a big garden. Walking on the trail, you can't feel the busy traffic of the main road. Pedestrians, bicycle lanes, electric lanes, and car lanes all go their own way. When crossing a zebra crossing, cars give way to pedestrians first, and the bus driver waits for the elderly to sit down before driving.

There are only runners in the square, without the noise of square dancing. There are not many pedestrians on the road and the pace is not fast. It feels like a rare and relatively leisurely and relaxed big city.

Bergamot flower?
Qingxiu Mountain is the urban garden of Nanning people, the orchid garden of Qingxiu Mountain, and a world-class collection of orchid varieties. There are Strelitzia reginae, Phalaenopsis, and many orchids that I can’t even name. Phalaenopsis? After meeting Mr. Huang and Mr. Guo from Nanning Sony ASS, we couldn’t wait to rush to Qingxiu Mountain Park in Nanning City to see the orchids. Loyalists are buried everywhere in the mountains
The anti-Japanese history of the Guangxi student army: In 1939, during the fall of Nanning, this group of weak scholars participated in 978 battles against the enemy, and each of them fought bravely to kill the enemy. A total of 10 The remaining people died heroically and composed a tragic and moving song of youth with their blood.

Among the specialties of Guangxi cuisine—sour food

Visiting the museum is a quick way to understand the history of a city, and it coincides with the brocade art exchange exhibition between the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and the Taroko people in Taiwan, Guangxi and Hualien, the Zhuang people and the Taroko people, referred to as "Osmanthus and Zhuang Tai". Volunteers in the museum used their breaks to talk enthusiastically about the cultural relics unearthed in Guangxi. This expert-level volunteer explained citations of scriptures and historical materials at the scene, and the expert's vivid explanation attracted a large number of visitors. The Huashan murals feel the same style as the African murals in "The English Patient". According to experts, the expressive imagery of the Huashan murals has not yet been fully interpreted.

The two sheep are particularly
interesting. The cute sheep and the sarcastic sheep show the childlike humor and artistic skills of the ancients.
In the backyard of Guangxi Museum, I met two groups of photography clubs taking outdoor portraits. The yellow Nikon LOGO on the neck of the photographer is more eye-catching. Nanning’s seafood and Laoyou noodles are of course delicacies, but compared with lemon duck, Nanning’s number one delicacy can give way to this dish - the delicious combination of tropical fruits and common poultry in water towns.
