Ruoergai Hongyuan is the prairie closest to Chengdu. This is where the story of "The Golden Fish Hook" takes place. Inner Mongolia is too far away, but Hongyuan is very close. The grassland where the Red Army once passed 90 years ago has become an important scenic spot for Sichuan people to ride horses and see the sea of grass.

Hongyuan Baihe Longduwan Racecourse

Live the speed and passion on the grassland

Focus on

basic information:

①Address: Base Camp of Longdu Bay Racecourse, Baihe, Hongyuan

②Accommodation reference: 166 yuan+

③Dietary reference: Tibetan food, Sichuan food, outdoor barbecue

⑤Other entertainment: horse riding, bonfire party (reservation required)

⑥Driving distance to Moon Bay Scenic Area: 42km, about 44 minutes by car

⑦Keywords: Comprehensive base camp, accommodation + horse riding

Located in Hongyuan Waqie Ranch and beside Provincial Highway 209, the Hongyuan Baihe Longduwan Racecourse is the earliest and largest racecourse in Hongyuan . It can provide accommodation, meals, horseback riding, ATV off-road vehicles and other various food, accommodation and entertainment services.

The ranch provides its own horses for tourists to ride , and the fee ranges from 30 to 150, and is charged according to the distance. The whole journey is 5 kilometers for 150 yuan, and you can ride to the hills and overlook the entire Hongyuan prairie. The most important thing is that if you can ride a horse, you can hold the reins in your hands and enjoy the thrill of galloping; if you can't ride a horse, there will be a master here to guide you, so you don't have to worry about being at a loss on the horse.

The racecourse base camp provides accommodation in wooden huts and grassland tents. The wooden huts are connected to water and electricity, and you can take a shower. Tents in the tent area can be provided by the racecourse, or you can bring your own, and a certain venue fee is required.

The racecourse offers Tibetan food, as well as outdoor barbecue delicacies such as roasted whole lamb. The ingredients come from the cattle and sheep in the pasture and surrounding areas. Here, you can eat authentic yak meat.

In the morning, riding a horse up the mountain to watch the sunrise is a good choice. Sometimes the mist has not yet dissipated, and the meandering streams on the red plains are looming, and the beauty of the original nature is revealed one by one like magic.

During the day, in addition to horseback riding, flower viewing, and photography, there are also motorcycles and ATVs for rent. Compared with running on limited tracks in the city, here, the tires run over the undulating hills and experience the speed and passion of the primitive wildness.

In the evening, light a bonfire in the park, tell stories about the past under the bright moon, play the acoustic guitar, and let the music soothe your tired nerves...

The camp is located two kilometers outside Zoige County . It has Tibetan cultural villas, cabins, camping tent hotels and other characteristic hotel camps with different styles and experiences. It can accommodate 200 people at the same time .

The wooden houses are equipped with water, electricity, showers and hairdryers. Friends who are afraid of moisture and cold recommend staying in a cabin. The cost of accommodation in a wooden house is between 500 and 700.

Meals include Tibetan cuisine, Sichuan cuisine and barbecue. Due to grassland fire prevention requirements, the camp currently cannot hold outdoor barbecues and bonfire parties. But if you want to eat roasted whole lamb or roasted potatoes, tell the boss and he can prepare them.

The camp is about a 2-hour drive from Moon Bay Scenic Area, and only more than 30 kilometers away from the Zasag Grand Canyon, a half-hour drive. Zasag is an alpine canyon landscape with metamorphic volcanic rock as its core. Those who want to see the canyon view can also choose to go here. The nearest horse riding stable to the campground is two kilometers away and can be reached in six minutes by car.

The camp is located in the middle of the grassland, surrounded by pristine prairie. Some photography enthusiasts have photographed Tibetan foxes, hares and other cute animals here. When night falls, the Milky Way and the crescent moon hang high above the black screen. A SLR can capture the most beautiful starry sky.

basic information:

①Address: Moon Bay

②Ticket reference: 58 yuan/person (including sightseeing car)

A river flows in a horseshoe shape on the wide grassland. This is not Ili, Xinjiang, or Hulunbuir, Inner Mongolia. This is Moon Bay Scenic Area.

A wooden sightseeing plank road has been built in the small scenic spot. The magnificent grassland river is just in front of your eyes. During the season when flowers are in full bloom, Kelsang flowers and wild flowers will also cover Moon Bay with a veil of flowers, as if Venus came down to earth with a corolla...

In addition to photography and walking tours, horseback riding tours are also available. Yaks, Tibetan horses, goats, these "aboriginal people" on the grassland are gnawing grass leisurely under the white clouds. The pure scenery makes you feel like you are in Shangri-La.

Tibetan cuisine

Eat·ethnic specialties

Focus on

basic information:

Recommended dishes: Tibetan hot pot, butter tea, tsampa, roasted whole lamb

When you come to northwest Sichuan and the Tibetan and Qiang regions, how can you not try some authentic local cuisine? Mainly Tibetan, Qiang and Sichuan cuisine Tibetan cuisine mainly includes Hand-pulled lamb, roasted whole lamb, earthen hot pot, baked buns, pickled cabbage noodles wait.

If you want to eat the most representative food in the grassland, my first recommendation is roasted whole lamb. Roasted whole lamb is a plateau specialty delicacy. Excellent Zoige goats are selected locally. After being killed and washed, they are steamed first and then placed on an iron plate for baking. While roasting, sprinkle with cumin, salt, allspice, chili powder, etc. Various spicy seasonings and oil are brushed over and over again, and the deliciousness of the mutton is billowing in the air with the heat, making people salivate. Delicious roast lamb should be crispy, fragrant and spicy, making people want to eat one plate and come back for another.

Local hot pot is one of the special local delicacies in southwest China. The raw materials required for making include yak meat, dried mushrooms, golden hooks, bamboo shoots, carrots, safflower, blue slices, pepper, chicken essence, salt, etc. All the ingredients are mixed together Stewed in a copper pot similar to old Beijing mutton-shabu-shabu, the taste is spicy but not dry.

Yak yogurt , the most authentic yak yogurt is produced in the Zoige region. Compared with ordinary yogurt, yak yogurt is more like a kind of milk tofu, and its taste is particularly pure. The surface of the yogurt is a creamy yellow hard fat skin. This kind of yogurt is fragrant, sweet and sour, cool in the mouth, and feels rich and delicious on the tip of the tongue.
