After watching Land Art Season last year, I was moved by Mr. Kitagawa's romance. This year coincides with the triennial Seto Inland Sea Art Festival. For this reason, I did not take any vacation for nearly 5 months and got 8 days of vacation.

Regarding this trip, I thought I was going to see mountains, rivers, lakes and seas, and art. What I didn’t expect was to see the hidden greatness in my heart and the romance of life and death.

If you have to decide to live in seclusion in this life, then the Seto Inland Sea is one of the best choices. Even if you are just a fisherman who is not very good at fishing.

Small preparations before departure for travel

1) About visa

The Japanese visa is quite simple, it is a sticker visa . After I placed the order on Fliggy for free, it took about half a month to send the materials and get it.

2) About air tickets

It happened to be an event during the Spring and Autumn Period and I grabbed special tickets. The round-trip air ticket costs about 1,500 yuan. The nearest airports to the Seto Inland Sea are: Takamatsu Airport and Okayama Airport . I am entering from Osaka and returning from Takamatsu. So I went to Kyoto to play on the way.

3) About exchange rate

The current exchange rate is almost 100 yen to 6.6 yuan.

Based on experience, it is actually quite cheap to withdraw money directly from the ATM at 7-11. The handling fee is 110 yen each time.

4) About the socket

Japanese plugs have a flat head and two holes, so you don’t need an adapter to charge your phone.

5) About accommodation

This time I mainly choose to stay in B&Bs or hotels close to stations and attractions. Booking platforms: Airbnb / Booking / Agoda.

ps:

① The travel diary mainly writes about the art festival, and I ate 2 pretty good restaurants in Kyoto. I will save it for a one-week leisurely trip to Kyoto next year.

②Anything in the itinerary that is not delicious, fun, or memorable will be deleted.

③My style of travel notes: lots of pictures, lots of them, lots of text, lots of them. (Full text length: 10,100 words)

DAY1 Kyoto – Takamatsu

Netizen Nianji wants to eat chicken with bones

Sitting in a daze until no one is standing

Have a good attitude

I got on the Shinkansen in Kyoto and rushed to Takamatsu. I never expected that I had to wait at an unmanned station for nearly 40 minutes because I misread Google Maps and landed on the wrong station and took the wrong train.

Fortunately, I wore Hanfu that day, so it wasn’t cold while waiting for the bus at night. After using Google Maps to re-plan the route, I took a selfie at an unmanned station and edited the photos, so I could wait for the bus with peace of mind.

Late night izakaya

A good place for netizens to meet each other

After spending an extra 2 hours, turning dinner into a late-night snack, I finally arrived at Human Touch Izakaya and met Teacher Yuan.

Starting with a delicious meal of bone bone chicken, we embarked on a happy journey of island hopping, viewing exhibitions, and taking photos of each other in the Seto Inland Sea. I am also more determined that the quality of travel companions determines 60% of the travel happiness index.

DAY2 Shodoshima

Confused Witch Apprenticeship

gift from the sun

The witch is preparing to take off

Choose to take a fast boat from Takamatsu Port directly to Tonosho Port on Shodoshima. As soon as we got off the port, we saw [Gift of the Sun]. I grabbed my suitcase and ran to take some photos.

As I slowly walked out of the port, I watched the hotel shuttle bus disappear from my eyes...

Tebu Somen after missing the bus

Mix of Shodoshima’s two major specialties

I lost the hotel BUS and had to take public transportation. The next bus left in an hour.

We happened to be a little hungry, so Teacher Yuan saw from the public that a good somen noodles restaurant was located near the port. We dragged our suitcases and found 【Ginshiro Handen Somen】.

I ordered an olive pasta. The taste is not much different from ordinary plain noodles. The addition of olives is more of a coloring effect. The olive flavor is very, very light.

The soul of some noodles is that the noodles are boiled in cold water and added with ice to increase elasticity. Unlike Chinese noodles, the sauce is poured directly into the noodles. Instead, add the noodles to the soy sauce for dipping before eating. Even though I don’t like noodles, I still ate half of it.

Shodoshima International Hotel

Having a window with a view of the sea is called a vacation

I, who must stay in a sea-view room at the beach, and Teacher Yuan, who saw that the room was 35 square meters, decided to stay at Xiaodou International Hotel for 2 nights.

The moment the automatic door of the hotel opened, I saw the sea and felt feeling like I was on vacation. However, it is too late to check in at the Japanese hotel, but luckily you can store your luggage.

We booked this hotel for the convenience of going to Angel Road (just a 3-minute walk away).

However, because you can see the Angel Road directly from the room. For 3 days and 2 nights, we took photos from the window every day and never left for a day...

Confused Witch Apprenticeship

Please be careful with the broom ahead

We bought a one-day bus ticket (1,000 yen) at the port and took the bus directly from the hotel entrance to Azuki Olive Park.

The live-action version of my favorite anime, Kiki’s Delivery Service, was filmed on Shodoshima. Therefore, a must-have itinerary for Azuki Olive Park, take off with a broom like a witch!

Take bus No. 2 and get off at the stop before [Olive Park Entrance], which is directly to the museum. You can get a broom for free when you enter.

Walking to the Greek Windmill, everyone was trying to "take off".

In order to take a photo of the witch, we danced around for an hour. I think Teacher Yuan has more flying talent than me.

In the museum cafe, buy a limited-edition olive-flavored ice cream , which is a must-have. It doesn't taste weird as expected. It has a little more olive flavor than ordinary ice cream, but that's it.

Because of this limited edition ice cream, we were kicked off the bus by the bus driver ... (Eating is not allowed on public transportation in Japan)

Then we misjudged the parking platform and spent nearly 2 hours waiting for a bus that never came...

Fortunately, I have a calm mind like Teacher Yuan, and I sat quietly in the rest area. I walked around and chatted with the uncles and aunts from Shanghai who were with the group.

Wandering around

Peach pudding at dusk

I originally wanted to walk to the lost street. Unexpectedly, when I went there, it was already closed. Keep a good attitude and wander around.

I passed by a fruit shop whose name I don’t remember and bought a peach pudding popsicle. The streets of Shodoshima at dusk were peaceful and romantic.

The twists and turns of Okonomiyaki

Wrong Maps and Kind Aunt Shodoshima

Based on the food recommendations provided by the hotel, I decided to have a Teppanyaki restaurant. Following Google Maps, I kept getting more and more wrong, but I couldn't find it.

It's getting darker. At this time, I saw an aunt from Shodoshima walking, and I immediately came up to her in broken Japanese: Smith Masai!

After dancing with joy and the help of Youdao translator, I realized that we had made a big mistake.

We thought that this Shodoshima auntie would give us directions, but unexpectedly, she said she could drive us there. It turned out that it would take a long time to walk, and it was getting dark, so I was worried that we wouldn’t be able to find it.

△The kind-hearted Aunt Shodoshima and the cute car

With the help of Aunt Shodoshima, we successfully found the Teppanyaki. There was only one uncle eating Hiroshima yaki when we entered.

I ordered Okonomiyaki and Teacher Yuan ordered Tamagoyaki. It tastes good, not amazing. However, in fact, sometimes the good taste of traveling comes from the gentleness of the local people.

DAY3 Toshima

Listen to the heartbeat of strangers

planned, unplanned

The only way to relieve worries is to take pictures

Take the hotel's free shuttle bus and catch the 8 o'clock boat. Everything went smoothly until we originally planned to disembark at [Tangqi Port]. Because was confused and force majeure, we didn’t know how to disembark, resulting in people still on the ship and the ship left the port...

fine, I am an expert in solving travel problems. Be in a good mood. If you miss Tangai Port, let’s disembark from Miyaura Port...

△After missing the pier, Teacher Yuan outside the cabin

Cycling is the right way to open Toshima

Japanese drama beautiful girl online

When I came out of Miyaura Port, I saw bicycle rentals and immediately arranged electric bicycles. There are a lot of slopes in Toshima. I am not diligent in all aspects of my body. I would be useless without an electric car!

When traveling around the island by bicycle, you can not only use your time to go to the museums you want to go to, but you can also enjoy the fast descent like a beautiful girl chasing the wind when going downhill. (It looks good when taking photos)

△The T-junction on the seaside is a photo-taking area for islanders to enjoy

Yokoo Museum of Art

Romance about life and death

The Yokoo Museum of Art is very close to Miyaura. From reading the guide earlier, I knew that this was a weird and impressive art museum.

Red and black constitute the main visual of the museum. The works of the bohemian (indescribable), weird and gorgeous Yokoo Tadanori are on display.

The building itself also does its best to express Yokoo's consistent painting style. Arrange life and death, red and black properly.

The most exquisite thing is that in Yokookan's tower , more than 10,000 postcards of waterfalls sent from all over the world are posted. The top and bottom of the tower are mirrors. Standing in it, there is a sense of eternity that transcends life and death.

Coming out of the art museum, I still had so much to say. I suddenly realized that I was completely immersed in a different kind of romance about life and death.

Toshima Museum of Art

see the flow of time

This is one of my favorite art galleries. It does not have a traditional art museum structure, nor does it have world-famous paintings. The only collection is the water droplets on the ground (Rei Naito's "Mother Form")

Hereit is forbidden to take pictures and it is forbidden to talk. We were free to sit on the concrete floor and even lying down was allowed. I couldn't help but lie down trying to catch the sound of wind and water, and accidentally fell asleep...

△Photography is not allowed inside the museum, this is the official picture

I think the value of art is not how much it can be sold for, but that when we met, I suddenly felt: I don’t belong to society or the world at this moment. I belong here.

At this moment and here, I see the wind moving, the sound moving, the light moving, we see time flowing here.

Please take a photo with the light and shadow

Not far from the Teshima Museum of Art, there is a cafe. It is a mini art museum.

There is no "Mother Model" here, and the patio is covered with glass. But the structure remains. The advantage is that it allows you to take photos and record the mottled light and shadow.

I ordered the Swiss roll with "Seto Inland Sea Lemon" on it. It tastes pretty good.

Heartbeat Museum

eavesdropping on strangers' heartbeats

Pushing the door from the bright front hall into the slightly dim room, you can faintly hear the sound of heartbeat. After opening another door, I saw a light in the darkness, flickering on and off following the sound of my heartbeat.

I don’t know which country the heartbeat I hear now belongs to, or whether he is a man or a woman. But for the first time, I felt that living is a secret and great little thing.

My heart beats, like all living beings, faster or slower. At this moment, I was touched that I was still alive.

△Photography is not allowed inside the museum, this is the official picture

Listen to your heartbeat on the computer in the library. I found a message saying that I tried to find your heartbeat but failed. Even so, as long as you want, my heart will always beat for you.

I think that there is a person in a corner of the world who can leave you with his 40 seconds of heartbeat. This cannot change anything. But romance itself is meaningless.

I hope that one year in the future, someone will also look for my heartbeat. I'm afraid you can't find it, so I tell you narcissistically

海のレストラン

Of course you have to look great when eating too

There are so many celebrations in the Seto Inland Sea in September that all the restaurants you want to eat at are closed. Fortunately, the beautiful restaurant of the sea is open. Cycling over there, it’s just opened. There are not many people, so there are 5 of us. All Chinese.

The restaurant is a set menu and there is not much to choose from. I'll order an extra glass of orange juice and a brownie.

In terms of taste, it is at a stage where it is not delicious but not unpleasant. As for Internet celebrity restaurants, as long as the taste is up to standard, other scenery can completely make up for it.

DAY4 Naoshima

Tadao Ando's Holy Land Tour

Boat-Bus-Bicycle

Trivial matters related to transportation

From Shodoshima to Naoshima, I originally saw that there was a direct boat. When I made an appointment for the hotel shuttle to go to the port, the front desk informed me that it would only be open during the art festival. I had to go to Uno Port to transfer first.

Teacher Yuan and I are already veteran drivers with rich experience in boating. After storing our luggage, we walked around Uno for more than an hour.

Somewhat disappointed. I feel like it's a mess here.

When the ship arrived at Miyaura Port, the Japanese children on the same ship came ashore and saw the artistic decoration of the parking lot at the port, and immediately ran in and started playing. I like interactive art.

One dares to lead, the other dares to leave. Fully express the state of myself and Teacher Yuan. I couldn't find the road, so I accidentally looked at the uncle on the bicycle for 2 seconds. He immediately realized that I needed help and stopped~

It's a pity that he doesn't understand English and vaguely knows that we are going to the bus stop. Showed us the way. After saying thank you, we followed his trajectory inexplicably.

Later, when we encountered a fork in the road, we stopped. The uncle waved to us from a distance. We followed, and then we realized that he had been taking us to the station in person.

Chichu Art Museum

Capturing the light everywhere

Tadao Ando is the Japanese architect most familiar to Chinese people. Especially me, a former loser design monk and current bed and breakfast dog. I particularly admire him.

I don’t know when the industrial trend started to blow up in domestic B&Bs, and there was talk of frigidity. And Tadao Ando, a self-taught professional boxer who became a monk on the way, smiled lightly, You are all younger brothers.

△Photography is not allowed in the museum, this is the official picture

The Chichu Art Museum is like a maze to me.

There are basically no artificial light sources in the museum. Implementing Tadao Ando’s philosophy: Architectural design is to capture the ubiquitous light.

Of course, photography is not allowed here, but there are a lot of noises and a lot of queues. Almost every exhibition hall requires waiting for more than ten minutes.

The first thing to enter is the work of American installation artist Walter De Maria, titled Time, Eternity, No Time (time, timeless, notime).

Hei Qiuqiu's expression is quite cute, but other than that, I didn't get much.

△Photography is not allowed in the museum, this is the official picture

Then queue up to see the works of James Turrell. He is one of the most influential contemporary spatial artists. Make good use of light and space as materials for creation.

The collection in the ground mainly uses projection, enclosed space, and LED light tubes.

I find it very magical, a bizarre and realistic display. But in fact, the perception time is very short. The staff in the museum will urge you to leave, and many people will queue up behind you to see it.

△Photography is not allowed in the museum, this is the official picture

My favorite is Monet. The water lilies in the mottled light and shadow make me feel particularly comfortable. Absolutely amazing.

Monet, the master of impressionism, always painted the world before his eyes. In his later years, Monet suffered from cataracts, making his paintings increasingly blurry. The "Water Lilies" in the museum's collection is Monet's later work.

I think it is most appropriate to look for the water lilies in Monet's eyes with a weak light source in the underground world.

△Photography is not allowed in the museum, this is the official picture

Different forms of light, either bright or dark, appear in the Chichu Art Museum. I am impressed by Tadao Ando’s genius design and the curator’s wonderful choice. Everyone is working with light and shadow artists.

Even the water lily pond, which is exactly the same as Monet's work, makes people happy.

It is an art museum worth visiting.

However, the teriyaki chicken rice burger in the cafe was delicious, and hunger was a small factor.

Benesse Art Museum

An art hotel where you want to stay but can’t afford it

Two months before departure, I saw Benesse Hotel and really wanted to stay there. After all, Tadao Ando designed it, and the art collection sleeps with you and wakes up in the island sunshine. Definitely an experience worth having in a lifetime.

Finally, poverty calmed me down.

Fortunately, although I can’t afford to live in Benesse, I can afford tickets to art museums that are open to the public.

△Photography is not allowed in the museum, this is the official picture

This is a very typical art museum. The works are also quite interesting. Three of my personal favorites:

【100 Live and Die】Watching different life and death dance before our eyes, Life and death are just verbs without adjectives.

【the secret of the sky】You have to lie down and stare at the sky in a daze to be considered here. Oh, by the way, Peng Yuyan also came to lie down. He posted on INS.

[Time exposed] Just looking at the painting, there is nothing special. What is interesting is that the scene in the painting appeared in the exhibition hall, and then left and stood outside the exhibition hall to see the real version of the painting on the beach in the distance. There is a secret that transcends time and space. Is it only time that is exposed?

△This is the official picture of "Time exposed"

What I will never forget is [three chattering man], three robots who are always chatting. I gave them a Chinese name: 3 Bibi Men. Oh, by the way, one was broken when I was looking at it.

△Photography is not allowed in the art museum, so I couldn’t find pictures of the Bibi boy group, which was a bit uncomfortable.

Lee Ufan Museum of Art

The art of points, lines and surfaces

Of the three art museums, I find this one the most boring. If you don't have time, you don't have to go in to see it.

Tadao Ando's architectural designs are still beautiful. Compared with the collection inside the museum, the dotted line art installation outside the museum is the finishing touch. Perfectly interprets the core of Lee Ufan's art, with a Taoist and natural flavor.

I visited several art museums in a row over the past few days. For comparison, I went to the art museum to see Lee Ufan’s works. Different people have different opinions. It’s worth visiting outdoors.

My favorite is the big lawn outside the art museum. It happened to be noon and the museum was about to close. There are few people and the sun is just right.

I said the work under the lawn is a big earphone . Teacher Yuan took a dislocation picture for me.

I skipped to the headset and walked across the steel road with a clicking sound. Consume my last bit of blood today.

The lawn goes downhill through the grass, and you can see the real-life works of Time exposed.

DAY5 Naoshima

Yayoi Kusama’s pumpkin

Dating Yayoi Kusama

The whole world loves polka dots and pumpkins

Teacher Yuan is a loyal fan of Yayoi Kusama. Naoshima Pumpkin Check-in is a must. We stayed at an artist's BNB in Naoshima the night before, and we were finally able to sleep until we woke up naturally.

btw, at night, Teacher Yuan did the math. I found that a bicycle costs 2,000 yen a day and a BUS costs 100 yen. One bicycle fee can take 20 bus trips. So, took the Polka Dot Bus today to find pumpkins!

For Yellow Pumpkin, you can take the Naoshima bus directly to the terminal [つつじso], and it’s only a few minutes’ walk away.

This 1994 work by Yayoi Kusama is still the most popular spot on Naoshima.

If you want to take a picture of the sky, you have to get up early, or wait .

Red Pumpkin is located near the port of this village. People come and go here. If you want to take a picture of the sky, you really need to spend more time and look for more angles.

However, I personally think that red pumpkins are more suitable for fun, while yellow pumpkins are more suitable for taking pictures.

When I was posing for a photo, there happened to be a little boy in red playing in the pumpkin. I accidentally took a fun photo together.

Mikazukishoten

I think it’s the best coffee in Naoshima

An absolute surprise. I’m not a big fan of coffee, but this is the best coffee I’ve had in recent times.

The boss, Mr. Kawamoto, can speak a few words of Chinese, and his level of Japanese is on par with mine. He is very gentle, and the power girl is also super cute.

The curry chicken rice at the door is also delicious. I don’t like curry, so I couldn’t eat it. Teacher Yuan loves curry and praises its deliciousness.

Touching photographic records

Simply put this is a very beautiful library. The feeling of the library becomes even stronger after entering.

Exhibited in autumn is an exhibition of photographer Yoichi Midorikawa's continuous photography of the changes in Setouchi.

If you look at the architecture alone, the exhibition hall is not unique and impressive, but I was moved by the work of photographer Midorikawa Yoichi. Each picture is a living photographic record.

Realistic photography, paired with an old, rustic, rather than refined, museum, complements each other.

home plan

We didn't catch up with the plan

First day on Naoshima. I went to all the places I wanted to visit and was basically satisfied after seeing Pumpkin today. However, the home plan basically closes at 4:30. We didn’t get up early, and it was already afternoon when we arrived at the home plan area, so we just watched as we happened.

Home Project is a series of art space works. The theme is renovating Naoshima’s unique houses, temples and shrines, and transforming the space into a work.

dentist clinic

Dark and bright

I happened to see Dental Clinic Residential Renovation first while taking the bus.

There is a dark black space on the first floor, with three vampire beds (I’m just kidding, don’t believe it!) installed on the wall. The second floor is bright and you can see the goddess holding a cone. Teacher Yuan said it would be good to have a bed here.

△Photography is not allowed, this is the official picture

Especially love the outdoor wall decoration. Because it is a dental office renovation, there are still small teeth and porcelain tiles that make your smile look toothy.

Goo Shrine

Hell, heaven, earth

We searched for it for a long, long time. I followed the map and climbed to the middle of the mountain. I was too tired to see anything. What I encountered was another shrine.

After going down the mountain, I didn't give up and continued to look for it. It took a lot of effort to climb to the correct hillside of Goou Shrine.

If the shrine on the ground only had an extra glass step, that would be too ordinary. This is not the usual style of Hiroshi Sugimoto, a philosophical photographer.

I saw staff guiding me on the path next to the shrine. After we gave Autumn a pass, he gave us a flashlight and asked us to go to a cave next to it.

After passing through the long and narrow dark passage, the flashlight suddenly illuminated the glass steps above the water pool, and my vision was immediately attracted.

The climax was not here, so we turned around and left, turning off the flashlights. The light from outside the cave shines into your eyes, like a miracle.

Emotions are advanced layer by layer. World, hell, heaven, just overnight.

naoshima ホール

The Naoshima Plan 2019 "Water"

There was not enough water that day, so the pavilion was closed. Very very very sorry.

Tickets are too hard to get

After passing by, you will be directly informed that the tickets are sold out and you have missed the work.

I downloaded the APP for the Art Festival 2019 and received a notification every day at noon that tickets for Nansa Temple were sold out.

Therefore, if you enter Nanji Temple during the Art Festival, please get up early and line up to "grab" the tickets.

DAY7 Ogijima – Megijima

Going uphill and downhill to island hopping

Ogijima

unexpected beauty

There is a direct boat from Naoshima to Ogijima, departing from Miyaura Port. It is only open on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays. We made it just in time and arrived at Ogijima in just 20 minutes.

Halfway through the trip, we are not too fast, and we proceed at the pace of a small island a day. Originally I had no plans to go to Ogijima, but I thought, since I’m here now, I’ll just drop by and have a look.

Plan your itinerary, discard the farthest works, and follow the Art Festival APP directly. View the exhibition in a whirlwind manner.

Cosmos, Dance, Ring

The world is a huge kaleidoscope

Ogijima has a quick look at the exhibitions, but there are still some, and I am willing to spend more time to see them slowly. For example, [Universe Flower·Dance·Huan]. After entering, seemed like was locked into a kaleidoscope .

Origin: I played with the huge kaleidoscope at the door.

アキノリウム

The art of light, shadow and sound

Because I didn’t do any strategy for Ogijima, I just walked around according to the navigation. When I saw OG08, I entered the waiting queue.

This work has requirements for visiting time and number of people. Wait a few minutes in the court before entering. At that moment, I understood why everyone who came out was reluctant to leave.

I vaguely heard the crisp tapping sound of bamboo slices and saw the shadows on the wall beating in an orderly manner. Only then did I realize that there is a lot of mystery here.

Each piece of bamboo product is more like a mechanism, linked together. Under the light, the shadows cast by the moving bamboo art are constantly changing.

For the first time since seeing the exhibition, my eyes felt anxious. Rush to capture the most information. Can't bear to leave it for a moment.

Other nice devices

The patchwork of Ogijima

After watching アキノリウム, I feel that Ogijima is worth it. Everything else is just icing on the cake.

Megijima

The human touch of small shops and small islands

The main purpose of going to Megijima was to renovate the new store this year, and it turned out to be true! I fell in love with this place right away.

Photo studios, barber shops, table tennis centers, fortune-telling shops, dry cleaners, and takoyaki shops... all are interactive art installations. Compared with art that is tall and can be viewed from a distance, I prefer touchable art. The Art of Touch.

Originally, the island food recommended on the official website was that small shops sell shaved ice, but I didn’t expect that shaved ice is only sold in the summer. Nowin the autumn, it will be octopus balls.

In the Takoyaki Maruko-chan shop, there is a fishing boat device. When I didn’t know how to play it, the uncle in the shop asked a Chinese girl to help translate.

After chatting with the girl for a while, I found out that the curator girl Xiaotong joined Beichuan's company after participating in the Land Art Season last year.

She told me about the fishing boat device that pumps out hand-painted stone guards. I drew a small octopus.

It doesn’t matter if you missed the shaved ice at Island Food. You can make up for it by ordering octopus balls. Xiaotong said that the octopus inside was caught by fishermen that day.

She also said with a smile: She cut the octopus today, and she cut it very big.

In the divination shop next door, press the button and today's lucky thing will appear. Today, my luck is the fishhook.

The most fortunate thing is that took a photo with the artist of my favorite art installation.

When I was looking at the soul massager, I was following the crowd and watching. A long-haired man kept asking everyone to sit on it and experience it. Only after a curious baby like me sat on it silently did I realize that it was real! So special!

The long-haired man took the photo for me, and the result was great!

After a walk, I went back to find Xiaotong and shared with her how cool the massage chair was. She told me that the long-haired man was the designer of the massage chair installation.

So, I quickly ran back excitedly to ask for a photo!

Setouchi ガストロノミー

Cultural cuisine that I don’t understand

This is one of the island foods of Megijima. Therefore, I asked Yang Qing to reserve a seat for me one day in advance.

Sure enough, I brought my own special travel mode . This time, I ate with 19 Japanese people, and I couldn't understand the culture and heritage of the food shared by the chef.

Fortunately, there are English annotations on the big screen. Although English is not good, fortunately, I can get the general meaning by guessing with Japanese and Chinese characters.

In terms of taste, soso. If I can understand, the experience increases by 40% .

Seagull parking lot

Seagull parking lot without real seagulls

Teacher Yuan is very afraid of birds, even if they are fake, she is still afraid. So, she suppressed her fear and took the photo for me~

The trivia of Megijima

Please take away the trash when you leave

The small shops on Megijima make me feel very friendly. I visited one art gallery after another before. I am impressed by the artist's genius and inspiration.

But in the end, we have to return to life. I prefer art that can be touched, that The beauty of growth breaks free from the trivialities of life.

The last boat to Megijima is at 17:20, and everyone on the island will leave. There is no garbage disposal on the island, so please remember to take your garbage with you when you leave.

DAY7 Takami Island

long time no see

Takami Island

Only in autumn, I have to go

This is the last day to see the Seto Inland Sea Art Festival. After saying goodbye to Teacher Yuan, I decided to go to Takami Island to find out.

For the convenience of going to Takami Island, I stayed in a small B&B next to Kinzoji JR. The platform is 1 minute away from the door.

Originally, it took about 20 minutes to walk from Tadotsu Station to Tadotsu Port. Unexpectedly, when I left the station, I saw the shuttle bus for the Seto Inland Sea Art Festival. Free delivery to the port.

long time no see

haven't seen you for a long time

Due to limited time, I could only go to a small western island. The reason why I made up my mind to go to Takami Island was [long time no see]. Long time no see, this word is full of romance and drama.

At that time, there were no actual photos on the official website, only a manuscript. Of course, the actual object and the manuscript are now very different. The work is divided into two parts. First, you will pass through an empty courtyard, where a wooden man sits, looking so lonely.

The other part is a cleanly dismantled home, with tiles on the floor and clothes, quilts, furniture, and sundries assembled into a spiral ball. The tableware at home is neatly arranged, facing the sea, and full of loneliness .

Long time no see, romantic extravagance. Therefore, I firmly believe that every encounter must be cherished, because it may only happen once in a lifetime.

for something exists inside

I don’t understand, I like it

My favorite is for something exists inside. If translated, it would probably be internal existence or something like that.

When you push open the Japanese door with your own hands, the black and white world hits you. After walking in, I realized that they were all made of stones.

I don’t understand what’s inside, but I’m definitely attracted to it. It’s not fun if you figure out a girl’s thoughts.

Pyrethrum Home

Incense, paintings and pottery related to pyrethrum

Takami Island is the most tiring island in all my itineraries. The entire climb up the mountains and stairs, especially the Pyrethrum House, cost me half my life.

Takami Island used to be prosperous due to the cultivation of pyrethrum, but now the industry has changed, pyrethrum can no longer bring good economic benefits, and the island is becoming increasingly deserted.

The history of pyrethrum is recorded here in the form of flowers, pottery, and incense.

art Artists use pyrethrum as raw material to make incense, which forms unique mountains and rivers after burning, which is somewhat similar to the Chinese incense art.

海のテラス

Demolish a house and turn it into a restaurant

This should be the most beautiful restaurant on Takami Island. Here, I met Momo, a Shanghai girl from the Shrimp Team. She said that as soon as Beichuan came to this restaurant, she would stay there and not want to leave.

Demolish a room and turn it into an outdoor restaurant. Plant a beautiful peach tree. Wait until spring and wake up with this island.

We chatted for a few minutes. Talking about long time no see, she said that she met the owner of the house when she was having dinner on the island some time ago. He said that he liked the look after the renovation very much.

I've seen the "inside", and momo worked hard to stick to the pebbles.

Yesterday Xiaotong told me that there is also a girl from Shanghai on Takami Island who works in the shrimp team. Unexpectedly, I actually met MOMO.

Jumping back and forth on the islands in the Seto Inland Sea, meeting lovely souls one after another, this is the most precious existence in travel.

Final TIPS

1. Seto Inland Sea Art Festival, held every three years, autumn session from September 28 to November 4, 2019. If you miss it, you really have to wait 3 years;

2. To plan your itinerary, view shipping schedules, art works, and island accommodation, please visit the official link → https://setouchi-artfest.jp/

3. Cash is mostly used on the island . I have withdrawn money at Naoshima 711 and Shodoshima 711. Some islands do not have supermarkets and convenience stores, so remember to check in advance;

4. Chichu Art Museum needs to make an online reservation in advance;

5. Please check the shipping time when island hopping to avoid missing the flight. Some shipping is open on Saturdays and Sundays, or there are art festival lines, so check carefully;

6. Be sure to check carefully on the closing days of the museum. Otherwise, the trip will be in vain!

This is my first time going to the Seto Inland Sea, but it won’t be my last. Here, I got lost, fell, ran, was in a daze, and was moved. These little things, good or bad, piled up bit by bit to make my imperfect trip.

I am so lucky to always meet interesting, lovely and kind people on the road.

The soul power recharge was completed at the end of 2019. See you again in the Seto Inland Sea three years later❤
