Wugong Mountain Travel Notes

Unlike most people, I didn’t know this place from TikTok. The story begins one day at work.

That day, a colleague suddenly asked: "Do you know Wugong Mountain?",I expressed that I was unfamiliar with this place, and my colleague was surprised that I didn't know this place, and then he took out his mobile phone and gave it to me I took a look at various videos on Douyin (roughly like the ones below), and to be honest, they are so beautiful! From this moment on, I remembered this place, called Wugong Mountain.

After returning home, I started looking up various pictures and guides. The sunset, sea of clouds, and sunrise are the most common and rare sights for office workers like us who work on the line every day at two o'clock. They are very attractive! It just so happened that I didn’t have any overtime scheduled this week, so I thought about booking a ticket for a walk...

I checked the ticket and found that there are only two trains from Wuhan, one at 1 am and one at 12 noon. The timings are not good. It's either too early or too late. So I considered transferring to from Changsha. The time is also 2 and a half hours, not bad! Book a ticket!

Departing from Wuhan at 9:58 am on Saturday, July 20, 2019, I brought a bottle of peach oolong flavored tea π, which tastes slightly sweet and has a faint tea aroma. ,great!

Depart for Pingxiang

The high-speed train is really fast. I arrived in Changsha before I even realized it. I took no time to get off the train and rushed to the third floor with all my suitcases to transfer. After all, the transfer time left for me was only 29 minutes. Fortunately, I just started checking in at the ticket gate!

The journey to Pingxiang North is only 30 minutes. I paid special attention to the scenery along the way. It is very good. Along the way, there are farmland, buildings built on the mountains, and villagers living on the water. They may be living the lifethey long for.

"Dear passengers, the station ahead is Pingxiang North" has finally arrived! As soon as I stepped out of the station, I was like a star. A group of uncles swarmed me and greeted me affectionately, "Young man, are you leaving?" Fortunately, after reading the guide, I knew in advance not to pay attention to them. I ran directly to the long-distance bus station opposite Pingxiang North Station and bought a bus ticket from Pingxiang North to Wugong Mountain. The fare is: 27 yuan/person.

After buying the tickets, the master guided us into the waiting hall. Waiting hall? ? ? ? Speaking of this, it is necessary for everyone to appreciate what a waiting room is! As soon as I entered, everyone's eyes were focused on me. I was so embarrassed! Dear brothers and sisters, please comment, can this also be called a waiting room, a waiting room?

After waiting for a while, maybe thirty or forty minutes, the master asked me to get on the bus. This is the second slot...!

01

First, this bus is not big at first. After everyone sat down, another little brother and sister came up. They could only sit on the engine board. After a while, their buttocks could not bear the heat of the engine. Just stand up;

02

Second, the sanitary situation is really worrying. Seats, floors, glass, curtains, and roofs are all unscathed! The scariest thing is that there is a mop next to my legs;

03

Third, therethere was a ticket inspector who chatted with the driver in dialect throughout the whole journey. They chatted happily and we couldn't understand a word. It's impossible to squint your eyes and take a rest...

04

Fourth, This car is really going to be scrapped. The master actually said that the car can’t drive even if the air conditioning is turned on... (On such a hot day, all the passengers looked confused*). So after turning on the air conditioner for a while, I turned it off. Let’s blow on the small electric fan!

Aha, take this opportunity to buy the electric fan and power bank pictured above! It’s so useful! Post it wherever you like, it’s so convenient! Like the following, you can completely free your hands, isn't it? There is no link. After all, it is a serious experience post, not an advertisement. I want to find it myself.

After an hour of trekking, we finally arrived at today’s destination, the Wugong Mountain that we have been longing for!

The ticket price of Wugong Mountain is quite satisfactory, 70 yuan per person, but if you have a student ID card, you can enter for free at the moment (I am jealous and helpless ) The ropeway is divided into two levels. The first level ropeway reaches halfway up the mountain and goes up for 65 Yuan per person, slightly cheaper on the way down, 50 yuan per person. Continue climbing for 30-40 minutes to reach the second-level cableway. The second-level cableway costs 35 yuan to go up and 25 yuan to go down. Considering time issues (perhaps because I was unable to do what I wanted), I chose the ropeway to go up the mountain! (I found out later when I went down the mountain that I was lucky to have chosen the ropeway, otherwise I might have died halfway)

What are you most afraid of when playing outside? Yes! It’s raining! Just bought the ticket! It’s raining! Before coming here, you should worship the gods and pray that it won’t rain! Still to no avail! There is no way, I have already come, come on, can you go home?

We changed to a bus and took us to the foot of Wugong Mountain. We were worried about the rain just now, but now it stopped, haha. Looking back, I saw that it was not bad, the scenery was very nice! When we move to the ropeway, comrades, the third disadvantage is here! That queue for the ropeway is so long that I want to hit someone! Everyone is sweating profusely! There was even a mother who was helped to rest by the staff as if she had a heat stroke. I actually saw someone holding a big watermelon and preparing to climb a mountain, hahaha. I admire it!

After getting off the cable car and walking for more than 40 minutes, the whole journey was covered in white fog, and my heart began to beat. Could it be that the trip was in vain? I can’t see anything!

So I only have one idea at the moment, hurry up and climb to the top. Maybe the weather on the top of the mountain will change again? So we speed up and head to the second level ropeway!

Dear readers! The fourth slot will appear here!

After finally climbing for 30-40 minutes, we reached the second-level ropeway, bought a ticket, and went in to queue. However, the queue stopped moving as we walked. When I asked about it, I found out that due to thunder on the top of the mountain, the operation was suspended for safety reasons. When will it open? Waiting for notification... This wait lasted for an hour, and there was no bench in the middle of the queue, so we just stood there. Some friends couldn't bear their loneliness and sat on the floor, playing cards and eating melon seeds. The scene was quite spectacular.

It was storming outside and it was very hot inside. Right now! The team moved, and when we walked out of the room, we found that it was clear outside, the fog had almost dissipated, and the distant peaks could be seen again! Ha ha ha ha!

After this little episode, we finally took the cable car to the last stop before heading to the top of the mountain. The long mountain road begins again. The difference is that the distant sunshine shines on the green plants that have just been washed by the rain. It is so beautiful! I lament that nature is really miraculous. After climbing for more than 30 minutes, I slowly saw neat rows of tents on the plank road in the distance. Hahaha, I immediately realized that tonight’s camping destination was coming!

We contacted the owner of the tent we ordered on WeChat. The owner was hospitable and took us to get moisture-proof mats and quilts, and then took us to choose a "house" to stay in. After several selections, we finally chose a single-family house uphill, thinking it would be quieter, but we immediately knew we were wrong. No one slept at night, and we talked about everything from poetry and songs to life ideals. From eating, drinking, having fun to bragging and singing, every tent was extremely excited. As for me, I was admiring the moon and stars. Do you believe it? Hahaha.

With our shelter in order, we were ready to forage. I read in the previous guide that the canteen at the top of the mountain sells a bucket of instant noodles for RMB 20. We brought two buckets of our own and went to ask for boiling water. Yes, sure enough, , we brought our own buckets of instant noodles. Add boiling water to noodles for 5 yuan a bucket. Then I took out the duck neck chicken wings prepared in my bag. This meal is so delicious! The sun was setting just in time when we were eating, and without the fog blocking it, even eating instant noodles became a beautiful thing. PS: I ate 6 sausages in one sitting.

After filling our stomachs, we walked under the sunset, admiring the beautiful scenery while walking, and looking for places to take photos. The sun quickly hid in the clouds. At this time, the most beautiful thing is the clouds in the mountains. Without the sunshine, the clouds are like silk wrapped around the mountains. It is really like a fairyland.

Gradually...it gets dark...

the next day

NightI put up my tentThe tent and quiltthe quilt and cotton jacket were still a little cool, but I had a good sleep.

The highlight of the morning was of course the sunrise! At 4 o'clock in the morning, I started to hear people talking outside the tent, and then there were footsteps. The sound became louder and louder and the frequency became higher and higher. I looked at my phone:

It was already 5:04 in the morning. Without any delay, I got up and packed my luggage, ready to watch the sunrise. Last night I was sharing my experience with my classmates. They came one day earlier than me because it rained at night and the whole mountain was covered with fog in the morning. They couldn't see anything. They could only go down the mountain with regrets.

So I was very nervous when I was packing my things. I never dared to open the tent door, for fear that I would see nothing but white again. The moment we opened the tent, we were very happy because although there was some fog, it would not affect our enjoyment of the sunrise!

When we reached the Golden Summit, everyone was already waiting here. Everyone was looking in the same direction, waiting for the same thing. I also picked a good spot, set up my phone, and waited...

After the sun fully emerged, everyone started cheering and took photos with the rising sun. They didn't want to leave for a long time. Naturally, I will not miss such a good opportunity and leave a wonderful moment. Seeing this scenery, everything I experienced yesterday was nothing but trivial matters. If you don’t reach the top of the mountain, you will never feel the shock of the mountain scenery!

At this point, we have almost experienced the scenery of Wugong Mountain, and it is time for us to return. The way down the mountain is another way, which is said to be the way up the mountain on foot, so I decided to share it with you in the additional explanation, because it is too It’s unforgettable!

Additional information

The way down the mountain is to hike up the mountain, which is why I said earlier that fortunately we chose the cable car. I have climbed a lot of mountains, but hiking up a mountain like Wugong Mountain is really rare. There is almost no flatness in the whole journey, it is full of steps, and the slope is relatively steep. As I walked down, I admired the enthusiasts who hiked up the mountain.

If you are really well prepared mentally, have strong mental receptiveness, and can fully keep up with your physical strength, and can guarantee the load of 4 to 5 hours of high-intensity, uninterrupted stair climbing, then embark on this "unstoppable" journey. "Return", otherwise, please take the cable car obediently. On the first night, I was still raving that I would not take the cable car when going down the mountain. But halfway down, I really couldn't do it, so I walked silently towards the cable car.

Wugong Mountain Guide

Based on personal experience, I summarize the strategy for reference only:

1. Things that need to be prepared

1. Weather: Remember to pay attention to the weather. Although there are many microclimates on Wugong Mountain, you should check the weather conditions in recent days before coming. If it rains, your visit will be in vain.

2. Clothes: It is recommended to bring thicker clothes. The temperature difference between day and night is large. Especially when staying in a tent at night, the wind is still a bit strong. It is also useful for watching the sunrise. It is still necessary to keep warm. The second is the raincoat, which will be very useful in case of rain.

3. Others: ID card, cash, power bank (must bring, it is painful to be without electricity), anti-mosquito liquid, paper towels, small desk lamp.

4. It is recommended to bring your own instant noodles. They are not heavy anyway. The instant noodles at the top of the mountain are too expensive.

2. Transportation

1. Wuhan-Changsha South ¥164.5

Changsha South-Pingxiang North ¥48

2. Pingxiang North-Wugong Mountain

After getting off the train in Pingxiang North, go directly to the long-distance bus station opposite to buy a ticket to Wugong Mountain for 27 yuan per person.

(Pingxiang Railway Station-Wugong Mountain: Purchase tickets at the long-distance bus station diagonally opposite Pingxiang Railway Station, directly to Wugong Mountain, 24 persons.)

The journey is basically about 1 hour.

3. Tickets

1. Tickets for Wugong Mountain are 70 yuan/person (currently free with student ID card)

2. Ropeway:

Level 1 cableway (Zhongan cableway) up: 65 yuan/person

Downward: 50 yuan/person

Level 2 (Golden Summit Cableway) Upward: 35 yuan/person

Downward: 25 yuan/person

Ropeway operating time:

Peak season from April to October: 8:20-17:00

Low season from November to March: 8:30-16:30

4. Others

1. Luggage storage: Basically, small shops at the foot of the mountain can store luggage for 10 yuan.

2. Trekking poles: 2 yuan each, I personally think it is very necessary

3. Raincoats, mosquito repellent, and slippers are all available.

4. Because the small commodities are local, they can buy tickets in groups. Buying from them can be ten yuan cheaper.

5. The tent can be booked at the foot of the mountain or on the mountain. It is best to book it in advance so that you don’t have to look for it after you go up. The price varies, about 100-150. (In the end, I decided to book one that’s close to the Golden Summit, so it’s easier to watch the sunrise.
