He practiced medicine in various places throughout his life and gained a good reputation. He was proficient in internal medicine, surgery, gynecology, pediatrics, and acupuncture, and was especially good at surgery. He was called the master of surgery and the originator of surgery by future generations. He once used "Ma Fei Powder" to perform laparotomy, which was the earliest general anesthesia in the history of world medicine. Hua Tuo attached great importance to the prevention of diseases and emphasized physical exercise to enhance physical fitness. He imitated the movements and postures of tigers, deer, bears, apes, and birds, and created a "Five Animal Play" to strengthen the body.
