Baima Snow Mountain Nature Reserve is located in the middle section of the Hengduan Mountains, on the Jinsha River slopes of the main peaks of the northern section of Yunling Mountains, Baima Snow Mountain and Renzhi Snow Mountain. Administratively, it belongs to Deqin County, Diqing Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture. It is 5,430 meters above sea level and 3,500 meters higher than the nearby river valley, forming an obvious vertical landscape zone.
