Chang'an Huayan Temple was one of the eight major temples in Fanchuan south of Ancheng in the Tang Dynasty. It is located on the original half slope of Shaoling (Duling) fifteen kilometers south of Xi'an City. It overlooks Fanchuan from a high position. Li Bai described: `Climb Du Ling in the south and look between the Five Tombs in the north. The autumn water is bright and the sun sets, and the stream of light wipes out the distant mountains. `Fanchuan in the Tang Dynasty was a famous scenic spot in the south of Chang'an City. It was a resort for feasting in spring and autumn and summer vacation. Du Mu, a poet of the Tang Dynasty, wrote in "Ode to the Hometown": "I thought about returning home three times and took the west road of Du Mausoleum." The rocks are curved and the sky is deep, while the ground is flat and wooden. Longyun Qin Shu, the wind is high and the frost is early. Zhoutai Han Garden, the setting sun and dusk grass. "Huayan Temple looks south to Zhongnan Mountain. The poet Cen Shen's "Thousands of peaks in the south of the temple, the peaks are green and can be touched", describe its best scenery. Although the natural scenery around Huayan Temple is not the Huayan world described in Buddhist scriptures, it is also the Huayan paradise on earth.

Huayan Temple is the ancestral temple of the Huayan Sect of Chinese Buddhism. From the initial construction of Huayan Temple to the following hundreds of years, there are no records of tall palace buildings, but only caves dug to house Buddha statues and monks. Huayan Temple can be said to be a typical cave on the Loess Plateau. Cave Temple. According to the records of the pagodas, there used to be the tomb pagoda of Du Shun, the first ancestor of the Huayan Sect, the Zhiyan pagoda of the second ancestor, the Xianshou pagoda of the third ancestor, and the Chengguan pagoda of the fourth ancestor. However, during the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty, the Shaolingyuan collapsed. Only two brick towers remained and the rest were destroyed. Among the two existing pagodas, the one on the east is the spiritual bone pagoda of Du Shun, and the original west pagoda is the spiritual bone pagoda of Qingliang Guoshi Chengguan, the fourth ancestor of the Huayan Sect.

1. Take bus No. 923 from the TV station and get off at Huayan Temple. Follow the signs and go left up the mountain for about 100 meters.

2. Take bus 917 or 905 from Chengnan Passenger Terminal or take a taxi (fare 30 yuan) to Chang'an Normal University or Butterfly Watch Factory. After getting off the bus, follow the street signs

and walk left up the mountain.
