Huashan Mystery Grottoes is the largest and most spectacular ancient artificial grotto site discovered in China so far. The 36 ancient artificial grottoes of different sizes in the area are grand in scale, magnificent in momentum, distinctive in features, and have rich and unique historical research and ornamental value, which can be called unique in China.

Huashan Mysterious Caves-Jianjiang Scenic Area is located in the eastern suburbs of Huangshan City, Anhui Province, at the junction of Tunxi and She County, 12 kilometers away from the central urban area. It is a comprehensive scenic spot that integrates natural and cultural landscapes such as green mountains and clear waters, rural scenery, thousand-year-old mysterious caves, strange peaks and rocks, cliff carvings, temples and ancestral halls.
Huashan Mystery Caves are a group of mysterious caves artificially excavated in ancient times. For thousands of years, they have been quietly hidden in the continuous mountains on the south bank of the lower reaches of the Tunxi section of the Xin'an River. There are 36 caves in the 5-kilometer-long mountain group along both sides of the river. Currently, two have been developed, numbered Cave 2 and Cave 35. According to the textual research and determination of archaeological and geological experts on the Western Jin Dynasty glazed pottery and other cultural relics unearthed in the caves, it is speculated that these caves were excavated around the Western Jin Dynasty, with a history of more than 1,700 years.
Huashan Mystery Grottoes are located in the center of Xin'an culture. Such a large-scale artificially excavated grottoes have no information recorded in history. The excavation time, purpose, whereabouts of stones, duration, identity of the excavator, etc. are all unsolved mysteries, which has aroused many speculations from the world.

How to get there:

Self-driving: From Shanghai-Hangzhou-Ningbo, take the Huihang Expressway to Tunxi and go south via Huangdun to Huashan Mystery Cave; from Zhengzhou and Nanjing, take Wuhu, Xuancheng, Jixi, Shexian to Huashan Mystery Cave; from Hefei in northern Anhui, take the Hetonghuang Expressway to Tunxi and go south to Huashan Mystery Cave; from Wuhan, Jiujiang, Jingdezhen, take Qimen Xiuning to Huashan Mystery Cave;

By bus: Tunxi Yuzhong Garden Tour Bus No. 1 costs 2 yuan per person and takes 15 minutes to reach the scenic spot. The special bus from the south gate of Daizhen Park to the scenic spot costs 3.5 yuan per person and takes 15 minutes to reach Huashan Mystery Cave.
