Guanting Reservoir Travel Guide

Scenic spot introduction:

Guanting Reservoir is the first large-scale reservoir built after the founding of New China. The reservoir is located within the boundaries of Zhangjiakou City, Hebei Province and Yanqing County, Beijing City. Construction started in October 1951 and was completed in May 1954. The main water flow is the Yongding River in Huailai, Hebei Province. The total designed storage capacity is 4.16 billion cubic meters, the total reservoir drainage area is 43,400 square kilometers, and the controlled drainage area is 47,000 square kilometers. The reservoir has been in operation for more than 40 years and has played a huge role in flood control, irrigation, and power generation.

Guanting Reservoir has vast waters and beautiful scenery, making it an excellent leisure and tourist destination.
