The Zada Clay Forest was formed by the geological changes of ancient lake basins and river beds over tens of millions of years. It is located between the two huge mountain ranges of the Himalayas and the Gangdise Mountains, in Zada County, Ali Prefecture, Tibet, with Toling Town as the center, at an altitude of 3,750-4,450 meters. The total area of the clay forest is about 2,464 square kilometers. It is the most typical and largest clay forest formed by weathering of the Tertiary strata in the world. How to get there:
To get to Zhada, you usually start from Shiquan River. A round trip chartered car costs 2,000-3,000 yuan. Go south along the Ri'a Highway, drive 225 kilometers into the Shiquan River Valley, and you will arrive at Ngari Zhada County. The drive takes about 12 hours. If you go north from Shenshan, or continue south after leaving Zhada, you can consider getting off at Namujia (or Naburu), 136 kilometers away from Shiquan River, and then go to Zhada.
