Chateau de Usse is one of the many castles on the Loire River. In addition to its beautiful architecture, it is also famous as the inspiration for Charles Perrault's fairy tale "Sleeping Beauty Castle".

The Château de Ussé was built in 1462 on the basis of an old fortress castle from the 11th century. It has both the majestic momentum of a medieval castle and the gorgeous and romantic charm of Renaissance buildings at that time. The 17th-century writer Charles Perrault drew inspiration from it and wrote the popular fairy tale "Sleeping Beauty". Later generations therefore called this beautiful castle "a chateau of dreams".
