The Former Residence of Soong Ching Ling in Beijing is a courtyard building that not only retains the layout and style of the royal garden, but also incorporates the characteristics of Western villas. The former residence of Soong Ching Ling was built in the Kangxi period of the Qing Dynasty. It was first used as the residence garden of Mingzhu, a great scholar in the Kangxi period of the Qing Dynasty. During the Qianlong period, it was the Heshen Villa. In the late Qing Dynasty, it became the palace garden of Prince Chun Zaifeng, the father of the last emperor Puyi, also known as the Prince Regent's Palace Garden. On the eve of the founding of the People's Republic of China, the place was already deserted. Later, Premier Zhou Enlai was entrusted by the party and the government to prepare for the construction of Comrade Soong Ching Ling's residence in Beijing. In 1961, the palace garden was renovated and a two-story small building was built to the west of the original building. The building was turned into an elegant and comfortable courtyard. The courtyard of Soong Ching Ling's former residence covers an area of 20,108 square meters. There are earth hills on the south, west and north sides. On the inside of the earth hills, there is running water introduced from Houhai, which goes around the garden. Among them, the South Lake is the larger water surface; Haoliang Fun in the original Wangfu Garden , Changjinzhai and other Qing Dynasty buildings have been restored to their original state during Soong Ching Ling's lifetime (large living room, large dining room); the two-story main building with a combination of Chinese and Western styles to the west of the ancient building complex was Soong Ching Ling's residence (built later) and also served as an office , receiving guests, is called the main building, with original displays inside; on the south bank of Nanhu Lake is a two-story building from the Ming Dynasty, called the South Building, with a winding corridor connecting it to the building on the north side; there is a fan-shaped pavilion on the east side of Nanshan, and an auditorium on the west side. Rain Room. A newly built cultural relics library is built on the west side of the former residence. The first floor has been permanently equipped with "Song Qingling's Life Exhibition" and "Song Qingling's Original Life Exhibition" to display the environment where Soong Ching Ling lived and worked.
