Sanwei Mountain is known as the "first holy place in Dunhuang". It has the appearance of a Buddhist holy land and a Taoist heavenly palace. It is listed as the first of the eight scenic spots in Dunhuang, "Weifeng Yidong", in the local chronicles. Sanwei Mountain was also called Beiyu Mountain and Shenyu Mountain in ancient times. From the perspective of Dunhuang Oasis, it has three peaks that seem to be about to fall, hence the name Sanwei. How to get there:
Go southeast out of Dunhuang City, turn left on the track 3 kilometers away from Mogao Grottoes, and another 2.5 kilometers to the foot of Sanwei Mountain. Cross a 350-meter-long steep curve that was blasted out in the mountain, and go 3 kilometers over the mountain to reach the "Sanwei Holy Land."
