Scenic spot introduction:

Saltaire is a well-preserved industrial town from the second half of the 19th century. The town is located in Bradford, West Yorkshire, England, adjacent to the River Aire and the Liverpool Canal. It is the starting point of the European Industrial Heritage Route. The textile factories, public buildings and workers' residences in the town are harmoniously designed with high construction quality. The town layout has retained its original appearance to this day, vividly reproducing the paternalistic rule of Victorian philanthropy.

Attractions distribution:

Saltaire was founded by the wealthy factory owner Titus Salter from 1851 to 1876. At that time, he created a model town with 22 streets, 77 houses and 45 workhouses on this 25-acre land. In 1853, on his 50th birthday, he built a large textile factory in the town, which had 14 boilers, providing power for 4 steam engines, driving 1,200 textile machines, and producing 30,000 yards of cloth every day. The neat appearance of the rapidly developing Saltaire was in sharp contrast to the slums a few miles away from the town, and was regarded as a utopia in West Yorkshire.
In 1892, Salter stopped his business, and Saltaire gradually began to decline. About a century later, a capitalist named Johnson, who had the same idea as Salter, bought Saltaire with the sole purpose of restoring its former prosperity. The Saltaire we see now is the new Saltaire that he bought and renovated to its original appearance. 820 houses are distributed in a grid near the factory, and the school and research institute are built on the left. church The sanitation has been improved considerably, with service areas built between rows of houses and parks across the river. The settlement has 4,356 inhabitants, and there are hospitals, clubs, schools, large parks, and a medical clinic connected to the factory. Along the grid-like streets connected to the railway are houses consisting of two, three or four bedrooms, a living room and sanitary facilities.
