Scenic spot introduction:
Stonehenge is a famous European prehistoric temple site. It is located on the Salisbury Plain in Wiltshire, England. It is also known as the Salisbury Stone Circle, the Ring of Stones, the Temple of the Sun, the Prehistoric Stone Table, the Stonehenge Fence, and the Stoken Standing Stone Circle. It was built around 4000-2000 BC (from March to April 2008, British archaeologists found that the exact construction date of Stonehenge is 4,300 years ago, that is, it was built around 2300 BC). Stonehenge was discovered by chance by a British priest when he was out in 1130 AD. Since then, this strange monument made of huge stones has attracted people's attention and has become a sacred place in the minds of the British.Attractions distribution:
Stonehenge is located in the green wilderness of Salisbury Plain, more than 100 kilometers southwest of London, England, covering an area of about 11 hectares. These towering stones are arranged in a ring. They are composed of many whole pieces of blue sandstone, each weighing about 50 tons. The tallest stone pillar is 10 meters high, and some of the stone beams across two vertical stone pillars weigh 7 tons. There is no blue sandstone in the mountains of the Salisbury area. Archaeologists discovered blue sandstone in the Preseli Mountains in South Wales, and found some abandoned stone axes and metal tools dating back more than 2,000 years in the quarry in the Preseli Mountains. Thousands of years ago, people could not only chisel the hard blue sandstone out of the mountain, but also easily polish the originally rough and sharp surface. How these boulders were transported and what they were used for is still a mystery.
