Wenshang Baoxiang Temple Scenic Area Travel Guide

Scenic spot introduction:

Wenshang Baoxiang Temple is a famous Buddhist temple in Shandong Province and one of the earliest Buddhist temples in my country. The ancient temple is located in the northwest corner of Wenshang County in the southwest of Shandong Province. It was originally named Zhaokong Temple. When Emperor Zhenzong of Song Dynasty was enthroned at Mount Tai, he stayed in Wenshang and granted Zhaokong Temple the name Baoxiang Temple. After thousands of years of incense, emperors, generals, celebrities and scholars have come to worship Buddha and visit. On March 15, 1994, the temple was Prince Spirit Tower Tower Palace 141 extremely precious Buddhist relics, including Buddha's teeth and relics, were unearthed. Every year around March 15, Baoxiang Temple holds a major Buddhist ceremony to worship the relics. Prince Spirit Tower The auspicious appearance of "Buddha's Light" attracted many Buddhists and tourists to come and worship.

In 1938, Japanese invaders bombarded Baoxiang Temple and slaughtered people on Huang'an Street. The thousand-year-old temple was razed to the ground, and the pagoda's fin was looted. In 1947, during the civil war, the pagoda was severely damaged by shells. In 1958, the 10,000-jin iron bell built in the Northern Wei Dynasty in the third year of Taihe (479 AD) was smashed to make steel. In the early days of the Cultural Revolution, the pagoda's base was stolen and damaged. In the early 1970s, the exposed pagoda base was cleaned and protected with a cement skirt, and the underground palace treasures luckily escaped that crazy era. It was not until 1994, when the pagoda was repaired and the cement skirt was removed, that the entrance to the underground palace at the base of the pagoda was accidentally discovered. Tower Palace 141 Buddhist relics were found in the area, including a gold coffin, a silver coffin, Buddha's tooth, relics, and a kneeling Bodhisattva holding his true body.
