Pizhou Li Chaoshi Martyr Memorial Hall was built to commemorate Li Chaoshi, the former commander and political commissar of the 14th Red Army. At the beginning of the founding of the Communist Party of China and during the Great Revolution, a group of heroes emerged in Pizhou, among which the famous Huangpu general Li Chaoshi was one of them. In February 1930, the Fourteenth Red Army was established. Li Chao served as political commissar and later as army commander and political commissar. In October 1930, Li Chao served as inspector of the Jiangsu Provincial Party Committee. In June 1931, when he inspected work in Xu Haibeng, he was unfortunately killed. He was arrested by special agents and died heroically at the Beigu Mountain Execution Ground in Zhenjiang on September 19 of the same year at the age of only 25. Li Chaoshi's heroic deeds have become an important spiritual source that inspires the people to build a better new life.
