The Uffizi Gallery (Italian: Galleria degli Uffizi) is located in the Uffizi Palace in Florence, Italy. The palace was designed and built by Vasari between 1560 and 1580 on behalf of the Medici family. It was originally used as an administrative and judicial office (the word "Uffizi" means "office" in Italian). Later, Anna Maria Lodovica, the last heiress of the Medici family, donated the palace to the Florentine government for use as a museum. Some of the treasures in the museum are contributions from the Medici family.Uffizi Palace The museum is divided into three floors. The top floor has 46 galleries, with a collection of about 100,000 famous paintings, sculptures, and ceramic works. The sculptures are displayed in the corridors, and the paintings are hung in different exhibition rooms according to the age. Rooms 2-6 are Gothic Art Exhibition Rooms 7-14 are works from the early Renaissance, and Rooms 15-29 are High Renaissance Rooms 30 to 45 are more recent works. Among the many exhibition rooms, the more famous and popular ones are Rooms 10 to 14 with Botticelli's works (the most famous ones are "The Birth of Venus" and "The Goddess of Spring"), Room 15 with Leonardo da Vinci's works (the most famous one is "The Annunciation"), Room 25 with Michelangelo's "Holy Family" and Room 26 with Raphael's works.
