The Maya Site of Copan was the capital of the ancient Maya Kingdom more than 2,000 years BC and was also the center of scientific, cultural and religious activities at the time. The site is located in a canyon 56 kilometers west of Santa Rosa in western Honduras, near the border with Guatemala. Accommodation: Copan Ruins, a small town more than 1 km away from the ruins, has complete service facilities and reasonable prices. You can stay in a fairly comfortable standard room for $20. You can have a decent Western meal for $10.

Best time to visit:

Copan Ruins is suitable for sightseeing in all seasons. The period around the Chinese New Year is considered the off-season there, with few tourists, sufficient food and accommodation, and reasonable prices.
