Tivoli Gardens is one of the oldest amusement parks in the world. It is not only the most popular theme park in Scandinavia, but also the third most visited park in Europe.

Tivoli Gardens opened on August 15, 1843, when its founder, Georg Carstensen, obtained a five-year charter to create Tivoli by telling King Christian VIII of Denmark that "when people are amusing themselves, they do not think about politics." At that time, there were few recreational activities for the citizens of Copenhagen, so Carstensen's plan was an immediate success.
