Jiuquan Scenic Spots of the Western Han Dynasty Located 1.9 kilometers east of Suzhou District, Jiuquan City, Gansu Province, the park covers an area of 270,000 square meters, including a 50,000 square meter natural lake. It is a classical garden that originated from the historical facts of the Western Han Dynasty, embodies the majesty of the Han Dynasty, and integrates the elegance of the Jiangnan region.
In 121 BC, Emperor Wu of Han sent General Huo Qubing to the west to fight against the Xiongnu. He fought a famous Battle of Hexi and won a great victory. Emperor Wu gave General Huo Qubing a jar of imperial wine from Chang'an as a reward. General Huo believed that the credit belonged to the entire army, so he poured the wine into the spring and drank it with his soldiers. Therefore, the beautiful name of "Jiuquan" has been passed down to this day.
