The ruins of the Hailar Fortress of the Japanese invaders of the Hulun Buir Alliance are one of the two largest among the 15 military fortifications set up by the Japanese Kwantung Army on China's northeastern border to attack the Soviet Union (the other is the Dongning Fortress of Heilongjiang Province). It is also a well-preserved site of the Japanese invaders of China. One of the military fortresses, construction started in June 1934 and completed at the end of 1937.
