Hulunbuir Gasian Cave Travel Guide

Scenic spot introduction:

Hulunbuir Gaxian Cave is an old ruins of stone chambers where the ancestors of Tuoba Xianbei lived in the Northern Wei Dynasty. The discovery of the Gaxian Cave Stone Chamber is the only known ancient ethnic relic in the border minority areas of northern China with accurate documentation. It is located 10 kilometers north of Alihe Town, Oroqen Autonomous Banner, at the eastern end of the peak of the northern section of the Daxingan Mountains, on the north bank of the Gan River in Gashan. On the granite cliffs halfway up the mountain. The land is stacked with peaks and mountains, with towering trees and pines and birches blocking out the sun. The cave is on a cliff, about 5 meters above the ground. The entrance of the cave faces southwest, more than 90 meters long from north to south, about 27 meters wide from east to west, and more than 20 meters high. According to legend, it is an immortal cave. On the west wall of the cave, 15 meters away from the entrance, there is an inscription on the cliff in the fourth year of the Northern Wei Dynasty Taiping Zhenjun (443). According to the "Book of Wei", the true king of the Wuluo Hou Kingdom came to court four years ago and "said that there is the old ruins of the country's late emperor in the northwest of the country. The stone chamber is ninety steps north and south, forty steps east and west, and seventy feet high." Tuobajie, Emperor Dawu of the Northern Wei Dynasty, sent Li Chang, the assistant minister of Zhongshu, to offer sacrifices and "posted blessings on the wall of the room and returned them". There are a total of 201 words inscribed in the existing inscriptions, which are basically consistent with the blessings recorded in historical records. There are rich cultural layers accumulated in the cave, which are of great scientific value for studying the early history of Tuoba Xianbei. It is a national key cultural relic protection unit.
