Yungen Academy is the birthplace of Zhu Xi. It was originally founded by Zhu Song. It has gone through vicissitudes of life. It has been rebuilt and expanded six times since the Song, Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties. After many repairs, it was finally destroyed in the late Qing Dynasty. Zhu Song, Zhu Xi's father, was the captain of Zhenghe County at that time. After Zhu Song came to Zhenghe, he promoted the advantages and eliminated the disadvantages, governed well, especially established education, and made remarkable achievements. During his tenure, Zhu Song founded Yungen Academy in Zhenghe City and taught classes in person, pioneering Zhenghe education. Yungen Academy is located on Qinglong Mountain in the south of Zhenghe County, close to the Martyrs Cemetery. The newly built Yungen Academy looks grand and spectacular from a distance. The academy building complex imitates the Song Dynasty architectural style, embodies Neo-Confucianism culture, is elegant in style, unique in style and antique.
