East China University of Science and Technology is a key university of the national "211 Project" and a "985 Innovation Platform" university. Formerly known as East China Institute of Chemical Technology, East China University of Science and Technology's history can be traced back to Nanyang Public School and Aurora College more than 100 years ago. In 1952, when the national colleges and universities were adjusted, the chemical engineering departments of Jiaotong University (Shanghai), Aurora University, Datong University, Soochow University, Jiangnan University and other schools were merged to form the first higher education institution in China known for its chemical engineering characteristics.
