Lugo is the only city in Europe surrounded by intact Roman walls. The ancient city is located in northern Spain, on the edge of the Minho River. It was named after the Celtic god Lugus. Before 419 BC, Lugo belonged to the Roman Empire. In order to strengthen defense, the Roman rulers built a city wall around the city in the 2nd century. The city wall was made of huge schist, about 2,000 meters long and 10 meters high. It was a typical city in Western Europe. A defensive project built in the late Roman Empire.

Best time to visit:

The Feast of Saint Froilan, held from October 5th to 14th every year, is the most important religious festival in the ancient city of Lugo. During this period, locals will hold a large-scale market event in the Cathedral Square, and the scene is very grand and traditional.
