Travel Guide to the Twin Towers of Chongxing Temple in Beizhen

Scenic spot introduction:

The twin pagodas of Chongxing Temple in Beizhen are the quintessence of dense-eaves brick pagodas from the Liao Dynasty in China. They were named because there is Chongxing Temple to the north of the pagoda. The twin towers stand opposite each other and have the same shape. They are both octagonal and thirteen-story solid brick towers with dense eaves. The east tower is 43 meters high, the west tower is 42 meters high, and the distance between the two towers is 42 meters. In 1963, the Twin Pagodas of Chongxing Temple were listed as the first batch of provincial cultural relics protection units. In 1988, the State Council of the People's Republic of China announced it as a national key cultural relics protection unit.

Attractions distribution:

The two towers of Chongxing Temple have the same style. Each side of the tower base is 7 meters wide, and there are brick brackets, railings, lions and Yanglian on them. On the base is a raised lotus seat, which supports the pagoda body. There are arched niches on each side of the pagoda body, with a seated Buddha carved inside and an attendant standing outside, decorated with a canopy, apsaras and bronze mirrors. The eaves of the twin towers each have 12 floors, which are retracted layer by layer from bottom to top. There are wind chimes hung on the corners of the eaves of each layer, which sway with the wind and make a crisp and sweet sound. In the middle of the west pagoda is also inlaid a small stone tablet "Record of the Rebuilding of Chongxing Temple Pagoda" in the 28th year of Wanli in the Ming Dynasty (1600), with the names of Li Chengliang, Li Rubai and others.
