Introduction to the Shiqiuling Fort: In the early years, the Shiqiuling Fort was an important military facility to guard the Keelung Port and shield the Taipei Basin. It was built in the 10th year of the reign of Emperor Guangxu of the Qing Dynasty (1884). It is said that it was built by Liu Mingchuan, the governor of the Qing Dynasty, to consolidate coastal defense and resist After the French invasion, British technicians were hired to build it. As the highest fort in the Keelung Port area, the Shiqiuling Fort played a defensive role in both the Sino-French War and the Battle of Yiwei. During the Japanese colonial period in Taiwan, the Shiqiuling Fort was abandoned and gradually lost its military function. Currently, the Central Fort is preserved as a historical monument, and only the stone command post, gun mounts and ammunition depots remain.
