Introduction to the Rongxian Giant Buddha: The Rongxian Giant Buddha cliff statue, commonly known as the Rongxian Giant Buddha, was excavated in the eighth year of Yuanfeng in the Northern Song Dynasty (1085 AD) and completed in 1092 AD. It took eight years to complete.
The Buddha statue sits in the south and faces the north. It is carved in a large open-topped niche about 40 meters high, 16 meters wide and 14 meters deep. With a width of 12.67 meters, a body width of 14.6 meters, a knee height of 12 meters, and a foot width of 3.5 meters, it is the second largest stone Buddha statue in the world after the Leshan Giant Buddha and the largest Tathagata Buddha statue in the world.
