Introduction to Baima Pass: Baima Pass is the last of the five passes on the Jiannan Shu Road. In history, Baima Pass has had its name changed three times. In the Eastern Han Dynasty, it was called Mianzhu Pass because it was located in the northeast of the ancient Mianzhu City; in the Sui and Tang Dynasties, it was renamed Lutou Pass because of its location on Lutou Mountain; in the fourth year of Tianyou (907 AD), Emperor Zhaozong of the Tang Dynasty, Wang Jian, the founder of the former Shu Dynasty, borrowed the name from the founder of the Han Dynasty, Liu Bangzeng. This pass was named Baima Pass due to the two allusions of Pang Tong and Liu Bei changing horses at the foot of the mountain. The three characters "Baimaguan" on the pass tower were written by Su Shi of the Song Dynasty.
