Introduction to Haridwar: Haridwar is located in the northwest of Uttar Pradesh, the starting point of the Upper Ganges Canal, and the choke point on the right bank of the upper reaches of the Ganges. It means "Hari's Gate". Holy water bathing events are held here from April to May every year and every 12 years. Near the ancient temple of Dakeshwar in the southern suburbs of the city, there is a footprint said to be left by Lord Shiva when he took a bath.
