Introduction to Fatehpur Sikri: Fatehpur Sikri briefly served as the capital of the Mughal Dynasty from 1571 to 1585. It was listed as a World Cultural Heritage in 1983. At that time, Emperor Akbar had no heir, so he prayed to the saint Sheikh Salim Chishti. Later, after his first prince was born, Akbar built this castle to express his gratitude and named it Fatehpur Sikri, which means "Victory City", and then moved his capital here. However, Akbar only established his capital here for 14 years. Then he abandoned the city due to water supply problems and moved it back to Agra, leaving it as an abandoned city.
Transportation: It is about 40 kilometers away from Agra. Take a bus from Idgah Bus Stand. The fare is 34 rupees per person and it takes about 1 hour. The bus stops at the parking lot next to the local market in Fatehpur Sikri. It takes about 5-10 minutes to walk to the attraction. The return bus is also here.
Tickets: Free for mosques, but fees apply for palaces. The price is 260 rupees per person for foreign tourists. If you show the Taj Mahal ticket when buying the ticket, you can get a 10 rupee discount; 20 rupees per person for locals; children under 15 years old are free.
