Introduction to Jomon cedar: Jomon cedar is the oldest tree in Yakusugi. It is the sacred tree on Yaku Island in Japan and has the longest age in the world. The largest trunk circumference of the Jomon cedar is 16.1 meters, and the tree is 30 meters tall. It is surprisingly tall in appearance. It takes about four hours of hiking from Yakushima Arakawaguchi to reach the Jomon cedar. The age of the Jomon cedar tree is estimated to be more than 3,000 years.
