Introduction to the Baths of Scholastica: The Bath of Scholastica was originally a large public bath located behind the Temple of Hadrian. It was built in the 1st century and was destroyed by an earthquake in the 4th century. Later, a woman, Sholastika, rebuilt it into a three-story Byzantine bath.
