Introduction to Ganlu Temple: Ganlu Temple was built in the Northern Wei Dynasty and has a history of 1,400 years. According to legend, Ganlu Temple was named Baicao Temple when it was first built. Princess Nanyang, the third daughter of Emperor Yang of the Sui Dynasty, had her hair cut off and became a nun here because she was dissatisfied with her father's tyranny. She was named Miaoshan. When Emperor Yang of the Sui Dynasty found out, he was furious and burned down the Baicao Temple. Princess Miaoshan of Nanyang was rescued by Dou Jiande, the then leader of the peasant uprising army, and escorted to Cangyan Mountain in western Hebei to live in seclusion and practice. When Buddhism reached its peak in the Tang Dynasty, Baicao Temple was rebuilt and renamed Ganlu Temple. In the Ming Dynasty, the name was changed to Lianhua Temple, and later to Ganlu Temple. During the Republic of China, the temple was destroyed by war. Now the temple has restored its original appearance.
