Qingxu Temple is a provincial key cultural relic protection unit and the largest Taoist temple in Pingyao Ancient City. It was built in the late years of Emperor Gaozong of the Tang Dynasty and has a history of more than 1,300 years. Qingxu Guan was originally called Taiping Guan. In the first year of Zhiping in the Northern Song Dynasty (1064), it was renamed Qingxu Guan. In the early Yuan Dynasty, it was renamed Taiping Xingguo Guan. Later it was renamed "Taiping Chongsheng Palace" and was renamed Qingxu Guan in the Qing Dynasty. The vicissitudes of history, changes in the human world, and the passage of time have left few Taoist idols here. In 1998, Qingxu Temple was opened as Pingyao County Comprehensive Museum. The museum mainly displays three parts: the Taoist relics on the central axis fully display Chinese Taoist culture in a three-dimensional manner, and the Pingyao city history and culture in the east and west wings, which show Pingyao's long history and splendid culture starting from the prehistoric era of the ancient city. The cultural treasures are brilliant. Presented to show their unique artistic charm and different artistic styles. Qingxu Temple is arranged according to the traditional layout of east and west, and is located on the north side of the east section of East Street in Pingyao Ancient City.

Qingxu Temple covers an area of ​​more than 6,000 square meters. It has three courtyards, and the central axis is arranged according to law: Archway, Guo Hall, Dragon and Tiger Hall, Chunyang Palace, Sanqing Hall and finally the Jade Emperor Pavilion.
