Scenic spot introduction:

Seokguram is a world cultural heritage and a famous historical site in South Korea. It is located on the mountainside on the east side of Toham Mountain in Gyeongju, South Korea. It was built by Kim Dae-sung, the Prime Minister of the Silla Dynasty in the 10th year of King Gyeongdeok of Silla Dynasty (751 AD). It is famous because it is a Buddhist temple built in a grotto carved from a natural boulder. Got its name.

Attractions distribution:

The grotto of Seokguram is made of white granite. An artificial grotto was built on the mountainside of Tohamsan Mountain. Inside, a statue of the Buddha Shakya Tathagata was carved. Centered on it, there were statues of Bodhisattvas, disciples, Vajra warriors, and kings of heaven carved on the four walls. There are 39 Buddha statues in total. Seokguram is composed of a front room, a passage, and a main room.

Restaurants are mostly concentrated in the center of Gyeongju and around Bomun Lake. The famous roast beef and various hotpots are mouth-watering, and Gyeongju’s famous liquor "Beshu", which is brewed with glutinous rice and herbs, is especially worth trying. "Tent stalls" (roadside food stalls with tents) in more than 30 markets such as Seomun Market and Chilseong Market in Daegu offer a variety of snacks. Haeinsa Temple is also famous for its wild vegetables.

Gyeongju is rich in amethyst, as well as other products such as embroidery, classical art, and traditional handicrafts. Shops are concentrated in the city center and near Bulguksa Temple, and duty-free shops are located on the shores of Bomun Lake. Daegu's "Yangnyeongshi" is a traditional Chinese medicine trading market with a long history, and silk is also a famous product here.

How to get there:

Take city bus No. 10 or No. 11 from Gyeongju Suburban Bus Station, Express Bus Station, and Gyeongju Railway Station opposite, and get off at Bulguksa Temple parking lot. (The bus departs every 8 minutes / takes 40 minutes)

Take the No. 12 shuttle bus from Bulguksa Temple to Seokguram (the bus departs every 1 hour and takes 15 minutes), and it takes 1 hour to walk.

Taxi: It takes 30 ~ 40 minutes to take a taxi from Gyeongju Suburban Bus Station to Seokguram Parking Lot
