Jizhou Diaoyuan Ancient Village Travel Guide

Scenic spot introduction:

Diaoyuan Ancient Village in Jizhou is where descendants of Ouyang Xiu, a famous politician and writer in the Northern Song Dynasty, lived together. It is a paradise known as "Little Nanjing". The entire village is surrounded by mountains and rivers, and has a beautiful environment. Its brilliance lies in the ubiquitous Tai Chi Bagua. Even the wood carving patterns on doors, window lattice, bed frame, washbasin stand, door lintels, and screen wall stone carvings are mostly based on Bagua. The pattern is the content. The ponds in the village are dotted with stars holding the moon, and the people in the village are reflected in the tall eaves. Outside the village, the rice fields, ponds, and green hills are reflected. The trees are sparse, the birds are chirping, the flowers are red and the willows are green, the bees are flying and the butterflies are dancing. The air is fresh and refreshing.

Diaoyuan Ancient Village is located in the north of Xingqiao Town, about 24 kilometers away from Ji'an City. The ancient village consists of two natural villages, Zhuangshan and Weixi. There are more than 150 ancient buildings in the village, 9 ancestral halls and family ancestral halls including Wenzhong Gong ancestral hall, 5 bookstores, and 2 ancient stone bridges. The lanes paved with bluestone slabs, exquisite carvings, paintings and gold-plated calligraphy and paintings, combined with the ponds, green mountains and ancient trees outside the village, give it a refined feeling.
