Scenic spot introduction:
The Bridge on the River Kwai in Bangkok, Thailand was an important historical location during World War II and is also a landscape of great historical significance today. During the Japanese occupation of Thailand in World War II, they forced Allied prisoners of war to build a railway connecting Myanmar and Siam. The terrain on one side of the bridge was relatively gentle, but once across the river there were steep peaks, and some sections were even dug on cliffs. This railway was completed after countless precious lives were sacrificed, so it is known as the "Death Railway". Today, the Bridge on the River Kwai not only survives and is still in use, but every December during Bridge Week on the River Kwai, there are light and sound performances to reenact relevant events in the area to commemorate it. Standing at the bridgehead of the River Kwai Bridge, looking at the beautiful River Kwai flowing quietly under the sunset, it is difficult for people to imagine the tragic stories that happened here. Only the unexploded bomb dropped by the US military placed at the bridgehead reminds us of the tragic event that year. war.Attractions distribution:
