Brundage introduction: Avery Brundage (Arery Brundage, 1887-1975, American) served as the fifth president of the International Olympic Committee from 1952 to 1972. Brundage was an American sportsman who was already an intercollegiate all-around champion in college. He participated in the 1912 Stockholm Olympics and won fifth place in the pentathlon in track and field competitions. Won the U.S. all-around track and field championship three times in 1914, 1916, and 1918.
