Ulanbutong Prairie in Chifeng City is the closest grassland to Beijing (432 kilometers away from Beijing) and is known as the back garden of Beijing. There are vast grasslands, quiet birch forests, sandy spruce, the world's rare tree species, historical and cultural relics, and rich ethnic customs.

Ulanbutong Grassland is located at the southernmost tip of Keshiketeng Banner. It has the ancient battlefield of Ulanbutong, film and television locations, Wucai Mountain, Xiangqun Mountain, Jiapigou, General Paozi, Twelve Company Camps, Princess Lake, Pan Dragon Canyon and other tourist attractions. There are also 7 racecourses with 1,600 tourist horses; 600 self-driving cars and 60 off-road motorcycles. Ulan Butong is a summer resort and a paradise for photographers.

How to get there:

1. Bus route:

There are trains to and from Chifeng every day from Beijing, Dalian, Shenyang, and Harbin. You can take the long-distance bus from Chifeng Bus Station to Keqi Jingpeng Town at Keqi Bus Station. Take a car from Ulan Butong Tourism Development Zone to Ulan Butong Scenic Area

2. Self-driving route:

It only takes 4 hours to get there by taking the Chengde Line from Beijing.
