Introduction to West Greenland: West Greenland is the most populous region in Greenland. About half of the island's 57,000 residents live in large towns along the coast of West Greenland, especially Sisimote and Sisimut in the north. Maniitsoq, the capital Nuuk and Paamiut in the south.
In addition to natural attractions such as fjords and glaciers, all the towns in the region bear traces of early Inuit culture and boast interesting homes with charming churches and local museums. In addition, West Greenland often hosts events including Musk ox safari tours, dog sledding tours in Kangerlussuaq, ice shield tours and other diverse tourism activities. Since most of West Greenland's fjords don't freeze, boats can be sailed to spot seals and whales much of the year; anglers can catch aggressive redfish almost everywhere in the region. The waters off Paamiut and Nuuk offer excellent opportunities for whale watching, while Sisimote is an ideal starting point for hiking tours.
