DAY6 Kyoto

October 16, 2019

Today I am going to start a one-day trip to Kyoto. The original plan was to take a stroll from Fushimi Inari Taisha Shrine to Yasaka Shrine. I don’t know what happened to my brain, so I suddenly decided to wait for my colleagues to arrive tomorrow and then go together. Today I will go to Kinkakuji Temple and Arashiyama first. I decided After getting ready, we set off, but I always felt that something was wrong, and I didn’t think of it for a moment. The front desk got a map and asked about the location of the bus stop. Taking the bus in downtown Kyoto is more convenient than the subway. The bus stop is just a few steps outside the hotel. There are many buses to Kinkakuji Temple. I used Google Maps to plan the route and just saw a bus approaching and got on the bus. The Kinkakuji Temple is still quite far away. It takes about half an hour by bus. Today is another good day. The warm sunshine shines through the thin mist and looks sparkling. In this kind of weather, Kinkakuji Temple must be seen. It will be beautiful. Speaking of Kinkakuji, those born in the 80s may not necessarily know it, but when it comes to Brother Ikkyu, this is the spiritual sustenance of our childhood. In the cartoon, the place where General Ashikaga lives is Kinkakuji, so going to Kinkakuji is really a Plot, Kinkakuji is also a world cultural heritage. It is said that the inside and outside are covered with gold foil, which looks particularly golden in the sun. The weather was good today and there were many people, all of whom wanted to stand in a good position to take a photo. At this time, the sun emerged from the clouds again, and the entire Kinkakuji Temple suddenly looked really magnificent.

Kinkakuji is not big, and it only takes about half an hour to walk around. There are various food shops at the exit. As we walked and tasted, we found that there was an ice cream shop in front of us, with matcha, milk and mixed flavors. This is an internet celebrity. Ice cream, one each of us, sitting in the sun and eating slowly, the matcha flavored ice cream is really delicious.

After eating the ice cream with great satisfaction, we prepared to go to Arashiyama to take the train. Arashiyama and Kinkakuji are in the same direction, but there is still a distance, and there are many lines to Arashiyama. If you are not careful, you will take the wrong bus. For this reason, I repeatedly confirmed and decided to take the JR to Mahori Station, and then take the JR Take the Arashiyama train back to Saga Station.

On the platform heading to Arashiyama, I felt so happy

There is Tenryuji Temple in Arashiyama, and there is the Sagano Bamboo Forest where Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon was filmed. It is also the birthplace of The Tale of Genji. In Arashiyama, you can enjoy cherry blossoms in spring and maple leaves in autumn. The maple leaves are not red yet, so we can only take a small train. Sit and play. The journey went smoothly. We took the train and got off at Mabori Station. We swiped the card and went out to the small train platform. Suddenly we saw a notice posted at the door that the small train was out of service today, Wednesday. ah! I finally remembered what I felt was wrong when I went out today. Before I left, I had made a guide because of this. The timetable on the small train website clearly stated that the train was closed on Wednesdays. I obviously put the Fushimi Ina rice on it because it was closed today. The itinerary of Hedasha Shrine was moved to Wednesday, and the Arashiyama train was moved to Thursday. How could I forget all about it as soon as I was there? It was a waste of time. The frustration and regret in my heart all came up. No wonder the platform was so deserted today. My mother comforted me, saying that once you come, you can make peace with yourself. If you can’t sit on the train, you can still play. Fortunately, knowing mistakes can greatly improve things. We adjusted our strategy in time and took the train back to Tenryuji Temple and the Sagano Bamboo Forest. After checking the timetable, the next train will have to wait for a while. This small platform is more like the platform where the male and female protagonists say goodbye in Japanese dramas. The small platform carries a big parting, and there is a lot of sadness in it.

In every Japanese drama, there is a stage where the male and female protagonists part ways.

The train came, and it was a slow train, enough for us to slowly enjoy the beautiful scenery outside the window. Back to Sagano, because there was no train today, there were very few people at the station. When we walked out of the station, it was a quiet town. I bought a marshmallow bigger than my head and admired the carefully manicured landscape of ordinary people. Unknowingly, I When we got to Tianlong Temple, there were a lot more tourists here. We found a place to eat and had a not-so-delicious meal. We strolled into Tianlong Temple to play.

Exquisite details on the roadside

Walking into Tianlong Temple, sister Xiaole was jumping up and down happily. I don't know how happy she was. There are two types of tickets in Tenryuji Temple, one is a ticket that can enter the inner courtyard of the temple, and the other is a ticket that can only visit the courtyard. In addition to Tenryuji Temple itself having a long history and being a World Cultural Heritage, its courtyard is also very interesting. The Sogen Pond Garden, built with Mengko Shishi, was the first Japanese government to designate a national historic site and special scenic spot. The courtyard scenery is exquisite and compact. , the so-called beautiful scenery is either cherry blossoms in spring or maple leaves in autumn. Anyway, it is not now. At this time, it seems to be quite satisfactory. When I entered, I discovered that I had bought a ticket to visit the inner courtyard. You can take off your shoes and sit in the hall to enjoy the beautiful scenery of the courtyard. When the maple leaves are red, the beauty here must be in full swing.

I turned a corner and walked out of Tianlong Temple. There is a large bamboo forest behind Tianlong Temple. This bamboo forest is not simple. Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon was filmed here. The sun was just right outside, but as soon as I walked into the bamboo forest, it was a bit dark. There was only a short bamboo forest path. There are quite a lot of people, and it would definitely be very cool to walk here in summer. When you reach the end of the bamboo forest, follow the road on the left and slowly walk back to the street where you just entered Tenryuji Temple. You can browse various small shops and buy some wagashi to eat while walking, which is also a small indulgence. Touch your mouth. Walking all the way down, you will reach Togetsukyo Bridge, which is also a scenic spot for viewing maples in Arashiyama. It is a wide river with a row of trees of different shapes standing on both sides. People in twos and threes sit by the river to rest. This is also the stop for taking the bus back to the city. It was already 5 pm, and many tourists were queuing up in an orderly manner to wait for the bus. I found a good thing here. Right next to the Arashi Tram Station, there is a hot spring pool specially designed for soaking your feet. After a hard day's walking, you can sit in it and soak in the hot spring, and you can also look at the scenery outside.

When we got on the bus, we originally wanted to go directly to the hotel entrance, but we got on the wrong bus and took us to Kyoto Station. As the same saying goes, let it be as it comes. We took the elderly and children to the Isetan Department Store upstairs for a meal of Japanese pork chops. The department store had already closed, and the whole building was also an attraction. There were different themes on the outdoor stairs every night. Lanterns, the recent theme is Halloween, and it was very windy, so we still watched it for a long time despite the cold wind.

DAY7 Kyoto

October 17, 2019

The two little sisters finally reunited and started having fun making trouble together again. First take the train to Fushimi Inari Taisha Shrine, which is a relatively famous shrine in Kyoto. It is dedicated to Inari God, the god of agriculture and commerce. There are many stone statues of foxes here, which are the messengers of Inari God. There is a long "Senbon Torii" behind the shrine, which should be the most famous attraction of Fushimi Inari Taisha Shrine. It is crowded with people all year round. If you want to walk from the bottom of the mountain to the top, it will take about half a day, because there are still many more to go later. Kiyomizudera Temple, we walked halfway and then headed back. When everyone was tired from walking, they rested at the entrance of Senbon Torii Gate. Two little girls shouted that they were hungry and shared cookies together, which tasted particularly delicious.

Sweet Memories

After coming out of Fushimi Inari Taisha Shrine, we originally planned to take a bus or subway to Kiyomizudera Temple, but after checking the map, we all needed to transfer trains, so we decided to take a taxi. They say you have to be careful when taking a taxi in Japan because it is too expensive. I thought that it was only a few kilometers from Fushimi Inari Taisha Shrine to Kiyomizudera Temple. No matter how expensive it was, it would not be expensive. I stopped and got on the bus smartly, and within a short distance I saw the meter keep jumping. Finally, I got stuck at 1,700 yen. After converting it to more than 100 yuan, I can still afford it. I will try my best to travel by subway or bus in the future. . The first thing I ordered when I got off the bus was a piece of matcha bread. It was so delicious. Nianninzaka and Sannanban were bustling with people. It was already lunch time, so I’d better take the kids to fill their stomachs first. We found a beef restaurant to eat and drink, and then walked to Kiyomizudera Temple. We thought it would only be a few hundred meters away, but we didn’t expect that it would take us more than two hours to walk just a few hundred meters away. We all went shopping, one store after another, looking at all kinds of ceramics, all kinds of gadgets, and all kinds of gashapon machines. Everyone felt like they couldn't move.

Finally, we walked to the entrance of Kiyomizu Temple, only to find that Kiyomizu Temple was being renovated. There was no way to buy tickets from the outside. Because our shopping addiction was not yet satisfied, we decided not to go in and went back to continue shopping, only shopping around the outside of Kiyomizu Temple. I took a few photos here and then dived into the shopping ocean. In the end, the two old people bought a plate each, I bought a cup, and the two little sisters each twisted an egg. Everyone was happy Satisfied, he walked back. We passed by the Yasaka Shrine when the lights were on and walked along the calm Kamogawa River. We went shopping before Issey Miyake closed. Then we found the nearest Ichiran Ramen. Each of us ordered a bowl of ramen and ate it with relish. Maybe we were too tired and we even finished the soup, but the taste of Ichiran Ramen was really good.
