Nine-way cylinder
Located in the northeast corner of Banchang Valley, it is the first of the five major waterfalls in Qinhuangdao. The total drop from the first tank to the ninth tank is 126 meters. The ninth tank is the largest with a drop of 69 meters.
Route 1. Watch waterfalls
There are two viewing routes in Jiudaotan. The stone path on the right leads to Waterfall.
The water of the waterfall flows down the mountain in a ladder shape. Each level forms a pool due to the water hitting it all year round. It is shaped like a tank. There are nine levels in total, so it is named "Nine Paths Tank". Tanks one to eight are all on it. During the wet season, the waterfall has a huge flow of water and a rumbling sound, forming a water curtain of two to three meters wide.

This mountain road is mostly made of stones, relatively gentle , with a wooden plank bridge and iron ladder in the middle. The overall difficulty is not high, the distance is also very short , you can reach the bottom of the waterfall in 20 minutes. Our group, including our 1-year-old baby and 80-year-old great-grandmother, all arrived easily, just for everyone’s reference~
In the hot summer, there is a cool breeze here, and the water vapor blown by the wind hits the body and face. It is moist and cool, making people forget their sorrows and worries.
But at the same time, we also remind tourists and friends to pay attention to protecting the ecological environment! Under the waterfall, I saw many children throwing plastic bottles into the pool, and there were also a lot of food bag garbage in the surrounding grass.
Route 2. Crater
The broken bridge on the left that was damaged by water is the only way to Shijian Gorge and the crater.
This row of stone walls with square edges and thousands of feet is one of the five highlights of the scenic spot, the "Billion Year Crater", also known as the "Shijian Gorge".

Research has found that this ancient crater was formed in the late Jurassic period 100 million years ago. At that time, it was during the Yanshan orogeny, and the magma activity was very intense. This columnar volcanic agglomerate was formed by the in-situ cooling of magma that did not erupt in the volcanic throat.
Walking inside, there is a small reservoir. But because the floods washed away the roads a few years ago, the road conditions are not very easy to walk . It is currently under construction. Whether it goes in depth or not is up to everyone's mood. But when the construction is completed, the scenery inside should be completely new.

On both sides of this road, there are many wild mulberries and apricots. The apricots are not ripe yet, but a lot of the mulberries are quite ripe. They are super sweet, but my hands are turning purple after picking them. Haha, be careful when picking!
Farmhouse. Roast whole lamb
There is only one farmhouse at the entrance of the scenic spot. Although the selection is a little small, the price is reasonable and the taste is very good. The roasted whole lamb is tender and fragrant. It is worth recommending!
Personal taste recommendations: Fried pepper sprouts, steamed braised seeds, scrambled eggs with scallions (wild green onions), roasted whole lamb, and lamb soup, all are super delicious.

Self-driving. Location
The location of Jiudaotan is relatively easy to find. Search "Jiudaotan Waterfall" on the map APP and follow the navigation. Just pass the camp.
The driving distance is not too far, and the road conditions are not bad. It is basically the newly built highway around the Great Wall. However, there is usually a period of congestion when passing through Shimenzhai, so everyone should plan their time accordingly.

Jiudaotan Scenic Area is not large and does not take long to browse, so it is suitable for a leisure day trip. If you don’t want to play all day, you can play for half a day and then return to the city.
The sanitary environment is average. There are many thick and long centipede-like insects in the scenic area. Girls who are timid must be mentally prepared. There are also a lot of flies and mosquitoes. After all, we are in the mountains and the toilets are dry toilets.
The natural scenery is beautiful. When the flood season comes, the waterfall will be huge and spectacular. The climb along the way is not difficult, with green mountains, clear water, and unique stone slips. Picking some sweet wild mulberries to eat is a worthwhile trip!
