I have always wanted to go to Guangzhou Chimelong to see animals. In September, Chimelong had a buy one get one free event, so I immediately arranged it. Since there were too many people on weekends and holidays, I decisively booked a day. Go see the animals during the holiday 🐒, the itinerary can be used as a reference.

The nearest subway station is Hanxi Changlong Station , there is a shuttle bus from the subway station to the south gate of the zoo. It is recommended to take a taxi directly from the subway entrance to the north gate. The animal area at the south gate opens later, so start visiting from the north gate. The time will be more suitable.

Itinerary at a glance

03

Small train

You can see the Swan Lake at a glance after entering the park from the north gate. Next to the Swan Lake is the small train entrance area. The signs of the park are very clear and the route guidance is also very reasonable. You can see all the animals without turning back.

Swan Lake

The tourist area of the small train is the African grassland area. The sightseeing time is about 40 minutes. The animals here are relatively docile, such as ostriches, zebras, and giraffes. Because they are free-range, you can observe them at close range. Some animals will even get very close. Observe humans.

deer

The best view of the train is from the right seat. There are relatively more animals on the right side of the train.

elephant

The small train also passed by fierce animals such as bears, lions, and leopards on the way. However, the activity areas of these animals are separated from the sightseeing cars by trenches and electric grids. It is safe and does not require cages. The open experience is not bad.

Bear

lion

cheetah

The latter part of the train's route is an African herbivore area. The animals here are also free-range. When an animal approaches the train, the train will wait for the animal to pass before continuing forward.

Unknown creatures that come to observe humans

The animals here are basically kept in open captivity, and the conditions are very good compared to other zoos.

Jurassic Forest-Rainforest Wizard-Golden Snake Secret Realm

The alighting point of the small train is the same as the getting on point. After leaving the train area, there is a Jurassic forest next to it. There are many simulated dinosaurs. The dinosaur models are very realistic and scared many children to tears.

The Rainforest Wizard is a primate and bird viewing area. There are jungles on both sides of the road, and monkeys will jump out from time to time.

Chimpanzees

unknown bird

There are many snakes in the Golden Snake Secret Land. Compared with other zoos, Chimelong has multiple viewing angles, such as a transparent glass floor with thick snakes coiled underneath, or a transparent ceiling. When you look up, you can see a bunch of snakes above your head. , I won’t show the picture here.

Baihu Mountain

You can watch tigers here at Baihu Mountain. There will be a white tiger diving performance every half hour. There is a glass separation between the white tigers and tourists. White Tiger Diving actually uses chicken legs to attract the tiger. The tiger jumps up to reach the chicken legs and then falls into the water. You can also see the tiger swimming underwater through the glass. The tiger swims like a dog paddle, which is quite funny. .

slide

It was raining when we arrived at Baihu Mountain, so the diving performance of the White Tiger was stopped. The chicken drumsticks that were put in every half hour were gone. The White Tiger was soaked in the rain and looked up with a 45° melancholy.

Giraffe Square-Koala Park-Elephant Park-Panda Park

You can feed giraffes at Giraffe Square, and branches cost thirty yuan each. It’s quite nice to take pictures here.

giraffe

There are more than sixty koalas in the koala park, most of them are sleeping and so lazy.

There is an elephant show in the elephant park. The keepers will introduce the elephant's body structure and demonstrate the elephant's food-eating skills, which is quite fun.

The Panda Paradise is very big. When I first entered, I only saw one panda sleeping, which was disappointing. Later, I found that there were quite a few pandas.

Panda

You can take the cable car to the Panda Park and visit the zoo in the air. It is recommended to take the whole park line. Some lines overlap with the small train. The get off point is back to the Panda Park. The cable car has a transparent bottom and an opaque bottom. If you are not afraid of heights, you can try the transparent bottom cable car and experience the feeling of flying over the animals' heads.

4D Cinema-Huaguoshan

There is a 4D theater just outside the Panda Paradise. There are many entertainment facilities here, most of which are for children. The 4D theater shows cartoons. Although the plot is simple, the pictures are really good. It is recommended to watch it.

Then we went to Huaguo Mountain. The monkey mountain here is larger than that of Hongshan Zoo, and the monkeys are very comfortable.

After visiting Huaguo Mountain, we went to South America to explore and watch animal performances. The main show here is the skill display of birds and monkeys. It was quite surprising to see it for the first time. It was only after five o'clock after watching the show. Most of the animals were finished watching, so we went out directly from the south gate.

Summarize

Generally speaking, the experience of watching animals in Chimelong is much better than that of other zoos. You don’t need to be separated by barbed wires, you can observe animals at close range, and the animals’ living environment is relatively free. However, from the perspective of cost performance, I still prefer the Hongshan Zoo in Nanjing. The entrance fee is only 40 yuan. The variety of animals is no less than that of Chimelong. Moreover, there are many greenways in the park, so it can be used as an ordinary park for casual walks. You can also follow a fixed route to see animals, and it’s no problem to spend a whole day there (actually, because it’s cheap, you can have the freedom to wander around the zoo as you please). Chimelong has a strong commercial atmosphere, and the tourist routes are relatively fixed, which lacks a sense of relaxation.
